Boxing Analyst and Commentator Alex Wallau, Dies

Post by elmersalsa »

Former ABC Sports Boxing Analyst and Commentator, Alex Wallau, dies. He was 82.

He and announcer Dan Dierdorf were a boxing announcing team back in the late 80s and early 90s decade.

Both were very entertaining. Wallau had a great knowledge of the sport of boxing. He was very underrated.

May he rest in peace.

What are your thoughts and how do you rated him as a boxing analyst?

I've been running back many old fights in recent months, and I've seen and heard quite a bit of Alex Wallau in the process of doing so.

He and Dierdorf were a quality commentary team.

May he Rest in Peace

I thought he was terrific. He had battled throat cancer for years.
I think he must’ve been diagnosed 30 years ago.
He was a battler. God Bless

Remarkable guy. His recovery from cancer was inspirational. As I recall, he eventually became the president of ABC. A towering figure.
