hw Richard Torrez on the Espinoza undercard.....but

Post by londonwar »

Torrez is certainly the most interesting american prospect at heavyweight

he's on the Espinoza undercard but i have to say his opp Tomas Salek is a bit of a disappointment.

Torrez has had just one fight in 2025 (a comprehensive win on points over the decent stablemate Vianello) but that was half a year ago???

whats going on here and why couldnt Torrez have got a higher level of opponent?

Top Rank don’t even have a tv deal.

They’re putting it on ESPN Knockout. Whatever that is and ESPN Deportes

Are any heavies that aren't involved with DAZN/Turki/Frank/Hearn actually getting any decent fights recently?

No. They're basically frozen out of the big picture.

If anything. They should campaign to fight get in their cards. Put on a decent performance, maybe even against ‘home fighters’ and then you’ll get a contract.

If nothing else. If you can't get big fights, take as many middle of the road fights as you can, and build up a gawdy record. That's another approach to ultimately land yourself in the big picture.

He's just marking time. Hopefully Top Rank announce the new deal soon.

Yeah a very, very ordinary opponent, And this will be a first round KO, I wouldnt even say this is a stay busy fight, surely there has to be a better quality of opponent available ,nothing to be gained here.

I like Torrez. He's ready for a top fight. Maybe he's too nice to be a 'name'.

He'll just have to be an overseas opponent if there's nothing close to home.

If the USA had a decent promoter they would have him & Jared Anderson on the same card then fight each other.

Winner is the next big hope

He is an exciting prospect, but signed with the wrong people. He might have thought signing with a US promotor was the best for his career.
But they seem to be shut out of all the action.
