Agit Kabayel vs Daniel Dubois?

Post by Cyclops »

As loads of the main heavyweight faces were sniffing around the big fight last weekend they inevitably got cameras in their faces and did some interviews. I found a couple of videos of Agit Kabayel where he says they are still looking for an opponent in December (I thought it was Neslson Hysa but I'm glad that it isn't- a pointless fight) and he is openly calling out Dubois in this interview, immediately after Wardley Parker ends:

And then yesterday this interview with the big fella on TalkSport where he brings up DDD again. He even says he'd be happy to come to the UK to do it.

Nothing happens unless the fans show some interest so I thought I'd start a thread. Do people think Wazza would let Dubois anywhere near Kabayel? And what would be the likely result do you reckon?

I think Kabayel is the second best heavyweight in the world, but maybe he's been flattered by being given big slow plodders to smash up? Dubois had quite the run before being stopped again by Usyk too. Miller, Hrgovic and Joshua is arguably better than Makhmudov, Sanchez and Zhang.

Any thoughts?

Good fight, really good. But personally don’t see it happening.

Kabayel is going to be horrendously avoided now isn’t he.

The only person I’ve seen wanting to fight him is Lawrence Okolie.

I don’t think many would avoid kab given his interim wbc strap. Before he had anything he may have been a bit avoided but honestly he has ticked up a few wins over overrated contenders and has the ticket to a title fight some time in the next year… I would of thought plenty of people would be ok with gambling on that.

I think the problem is that he's not got a big promoter and isn't a big name so can't make the fights happen. It's his and his teams fault mods than anyone ducking him. I think most people would accept a fight for the belt against him except if they don't necessarily need the money right now or they have a better shot lined up.

Kayabel is excellent, I think. Mentally and physically tough. I thought his win over Zhang was very impressive. He didn't wait for Zhang to get tired; he entered the danger zone and demolished his body, sticking to a clear game plan. And, he got up off the floor. A big fan of his. I hope he gets the big fights - a very likeable fella, too.

I know age might have been a bit of a factor for Zhang but Kabayel’s win is the most impressive of the wins over Zhang. Even tho he got put down you never really felt like he wasn’t going to win it I thought.

odd that Okolie seemed keen to fight Kab. His big pudgy midriff seems made for Kab’s body shots

He walked through Zhang. Yes, he got put down, but he looked more embarrassed than hurt. I was particularly pleased as it felt like it was a bit of payback for ending Joe Joyce, who I have a soft spot for.

Kabayel is brutal in the ring. He beats people up. He's likeable, and he speaks better English than Dubois.

Wouldn't Dubois want the interim? He's never going to beat Usyk and the its the quickest way for him to become a world champion again, as there will be absolutely no clamour for Dubois Usyk 3, and he'll be upgraded to champ when Usyk chucks the belt rather than fight him.

I think the problem is even if ddd won he wouldent get the usyk fight.

Also, given his loss he will probably want to rebuild. If he was 32 I’d say take it, but 28, I dunno, personally I would just get him 3 decent wins fairly quick.

This is still a quality option, I just don’t think there is the money in it for the risk. (And ddd will probably be able to fight for a belt when Usyk retires with just a few decent wins)

this is a fight i'd pay to see. in the post-Usyk years we probably will anyway at some point. even if DDD loses he'll still be put in big fights as he's explosive and managed by Warren, while Kabayel might lose a lot of momentum from a defeat here.
