Had to go up weights because of how easy it was for him at feather
Look at GGG...as good as he was never once gambled with boxing heavier fighters
Who knows how it would work out if there was a cash cow like Canelo at feather. Before Cotto and Canelo moved up to MW,
GGG was ready to fight Froch, Ward and others at 168.

Vasiliy Lomachenko retired because he lost motivation after Devin Haney loss

Vasiliy Lomachenko looked as good as ever during his matchup with George Kambosos Jr. in May of last year, leading appreciative fans to wonder what might be next for the Ukrainian star.

They couldn't have imagined that he'd never fight again.

Why did Lomachenko decide to retire after defeating Kambosos to win yet another world title? A lack of motivation that followed his controversial loss to Devin Haney for the undisputed lightweight championship the May 2023.

Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) and many others thought he did more than enough to get the nod but the judges saw it differently, giving Haney a unanimous decision that allowed him to retain his titles.

Although Lomachenko went on to stop Kambosos in 11 rounds to win the IBF title a year later, his heart was never in it. Losing to Haney (32-0, 15 KOs, 1 NC) left the future Hall of Famer deflated. So much so that walking away was easy choice to make.

“It was not difficult because I lost motivation,” Lomachenko told Fight News on its YouTube channel. “I lost motivation. My motivation was to become undisputed world champion. When I lost to Haney, it was my last chance.”

The now 37-year-old had compelling options at the end. For example, Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson attempted to lure him into the ring for what would've been massive, lucrative events.

But his mind was made up. The Kambosos fight was his swan song. Then it was time to move on to the next phase of his life.

It's roughly a year and a half later and Lomachenko said he doesn't even see the point of discussing opportunities he passed up. He made his decision. And he doesn't look back.

“It doesn’t make sense to talk about it,” Lomachenko said. “I took one more belt. I’m finished with boxing.”

Oh my, I've been following the sport less for the last couple of years and didn't even noticed Loma's retirement. Well, he had a great career and it could have been greater with a win over Haney, which was stolen from him, imo.
