Opetia v Cinkara
One side of this card is probably the best I have ever seen in Australia. Lots of high quality fighters but the match ups are a bit ordinary. I don't care though, I will travel to the Gold Coast for this one.
The atmosphere at Jai fights on the Gold Coast has to be experienced to be believed. Guess I get to watch Teramoana beat up another defenceless victim.

True but I always wonder why boxing fans and commentators struggle with understanding the word mandatory.

Re: Opetia v Cinkara
Point taken, but I am pretty sure Squeo was a keep busy fill in for a late injury to Cinkara. Do you think Jai just likes fighting lower levels of opponents.
Do you believe him when he says he wants Zurdo and Jack. I watched Zurdo's last fight and he is slow and fat as a cruiser. He should be at light heavyweight but wouldn't beat Bivol, Beterbiev or Benavidez.

Re: Opetia v Cinkara
Yeah, I believe Opetaia when he states he wants to fight Zurdo and/or Jack. I've never been overly impressed with Zurdo and what he does in the ring, and Jack is an awkward fighter whose style can be problematic for some. I think Opetaia defeats both of them.
Re: Opetia v Cinkara
Jai has beaten 6 previously unbeaten fighters with 10 or more fights. He has beaten all of his opponents in 28 fights with 22 KOs. Can you really fault that record?
Re: Opetia v Cinkara
Whether he wants to fight them or not. They're not worth stalling your career and waiting on. Neither one of them is a megafight. There's like 15 Heavyweight opponents Opetaia could fight that would be more interesting, and more lucrative fights.
Re: Opetia v Cinkara
Nothing is wrong with his record or his talent. Something is wrong with his matchmaking, and career management.
Re: Opetia v Cinkara
Agreed, and he's not the only fighter with that management/matchmaking issue. But Opetaia can only fight those who want to get in the ring with him. If the top cruisers don't want to fight, he then has a choice to make: keep taking on opponents that some pundits/fans don't think are worthy or move up.
Re: Opetia v Cinkara
Stan really need to look at their lead commentator. Let Ted cofie lead it.
Re: Opetia v Cinkara
It was Cinkara's 24th fight and the first one he lost. Hardly a mug.

Re: Opetia v Cinkara
is the concept of a padded record new to you? cinkara is 40 and beaten no one of note. if you go through his record, not one of his opponents prior to jae is in the top 30, and everyone but one guy is #350 or lower (or inactive and not even ranked). this comes after jae fighting f@cking claudio squeo.
i have been very supportive of jai, was one of the only people on here picking him in first briedis fight etc and still believe in his talent. but you gotta keep a critical eye even for guys youve supported.
