Amir Khan vs Ruslan Provodnikov

Post by 2128778 »

This fight was once proposed by Showtime's Stephen Espinoza.

The working date was November 7th, 2015. Venue: Barclays Center.

According to Espinoza, Showtime was on board. Provodnikov has accepted proposed terms. But Khan turned the offer down.

Who do you think would've won?

I think Khan would've probably outboxed Provodnikov to a UD, but I'd have been rooting for Provo throughout the fight as he was a favorite of mine in his time.

Ultimately though he was a fairly limited slugger, and while he could hurt Khan I don't know that he had enough to his game to finish him.

That's about how I see it, too. Pity, that Khan decided to turn it down. Probably, didn't want to risk his potential paydays against Mayweather and Pacquiao that he chased around that time, but never got...

But well, he'll get one against Canelo pretty soon. Perhaps, he knew better when he declined the Provo bout.

Provo definitely was a high risk/low reward kinda opponent for him so I can see why he'd have avoided him.
