I think Beau Jack would've probably been too strong for Pep at Lightweight. He was a busy and hyper aggressive fighter whose volume combined with his size and strength advantage would probably be the best answer to Pep's defensive wizardry.

Also Pep would be a hair slower and weaker offensively at Lightweight as well. Pep needs all his skill to make it the distance, but can't win more than 3 rounds.

If the great Willie Pep couldn't beat Sammy Angott, I doubt that he beats one of the top ten lightweights ever in Beau Jack.

Jack would be too strong for Pep. Pep never again jumped to lightweight after losing to Angott. He knew his limitations.
