Ok - a question that I surely know the answer too but someone elighten me.

So Daniel Dubios is ranked 7 by the IBF and Sanchez is 4.

This is a final eliminator which has not been pre agreed by any promoter - so this fight is not already signed.

So why are the IBF placing Dubios in the Final Eliminator and not Ejagba (number 3 with the IBF).

Why not Ejagba vs Sanchez to go to purse bids and if there is no interest, then see who might be interested. Why is Dubios in a position to overtake Ejagba?

Other boxers said no to fighting Frank. So they went down the list.

Why rank them so high if they don’t wanna fight any eliminators.

Is there anything from the IBF saying it's a final eliminator? Promoters and boxing news always say final when the org doesn't say it. My guess is that this is not a final eliminator. The rankings I posted before are a month old and have been updated with the guys that I imagine turned down the eliminator before removed. 1st is vacant, Chisora won his eliminator before so is 2nd. Sanchez in 3rd so gets the next eliminator. Torrez in 4th and I imagine he declined so Dubois in 5th is next up.

I think it's quite obvious that Itauma and Ajagba turned down the semi-final eliminator with Sanchez. I believe the IBF rules state that if someone turns down an eliminator they drop outside the top 10 for 6 months. Torrez has likely turned this down so will drop again next time the rankings are reshuffled.

Hrgovic must've been over 6 months ago so I guess he'll duck Sanchez again if offered. If Dubois declines, who knows who will actually accept.

Sanchez has a big speed advantage over most of them but if his knees aren't fixed then he'll he a sitting duck and a quick route to a title shot. He'd be a legitimate bogeyman if nobody takes the fight. If everyone down to Jalolov rejects it then they should just put him against Chisora for a final eliminator. No doubt Chisora would reject that but something has to give to get themselves a mandatory.

Daniel Dubois vs Frank Sanchez heading for purse bid as Cuban reiterates desire to earn shot at Oleksandr Usyk's title

Frank Sanchez remains determined to earn a world heavyweight title shot, despite being made to wait for a fight against Daniel Dubois.

The British contender had agreed to negotiate an IBF final eliminator against Sanchez last month, with the winner becoming mandatory challenger for the IBF title which is held by undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.

But an agreement has not been finalised during the designated negotiation period and the IBF has called a purse bid to determine terms for the bout on November 13.

Sanchez's co-manager Mike Borao confirmed that the Cuban is still eager to face Dubois, although becoming the leading IBF challenger for Usyk is his top priority.

"Of course, Frank prefers to fight a top former world champion like Daniel Dubois to prove himself elite," Borao told Sky Sports.

"At this point, however, Frank is just anxious to fight for the number one position, whoever it may be."

Dubois had also been linked with a fight against Agit Kabayel, the WBC interim champion, but the Germany-based fighter has announced Damian Knyba as his next opponent.

Dubois' manager Sam Jones recently told Sky Sports that the British heavyweight wants to quickly force his way back into world title contention after his reign as IBF champion was ended by a stoppage loss to Usyk in their July rematch.

"We're open to any fight that gets Daniel closer to a world title," said Jones. "That's ultimately what Daniel wants to achieve.

"There will be no tune up fights for Daniel Dubois. Twenty-eight years old, he's coming off an undisputed title fight so there'll be no warm-up fights. It's straight back in."

Frank Sanchez-Daniel Dubois IBF heavyweight title eliminator purse bid delayed

An old tale is met with a bit of a new storyline.

Boxing Scene has confirmed that the IBF postponed the Frank Sanchez-Daniel Dubois purse bid hearing originally scheduled for Thursday. A request was made by Dubois’ team for a one-week delay to the ordered heavyweight eliminator, mutually agreed to by Sanchez’s side and ultimately accepted by the sanctioning body.

The matter is now rescheduled for November 20, hardly unfamiliar territory for Cuba’s Sanchez, 25-1 (18 KOs), who has spent nearly all year waiting to land an opponent for this very opportunity.

However, Boxing Scene has learned that the delay was requested not to simply stall for time but in hopes that talks can continue and that a deal can be reached.

Dubois, 22-3 (21 KOs) – who is promoted by Queensberry Promotions – aims to reposition himself at the top of the queue for the heavyweight title he previously held.

A 28-year-old Londoner, Dubois held an interim version of the title after a stoppage win over Filip Hrgovic last June 1. He was upgraded later that month when Oleksandr Usyk vacated the full IBF title to instead move forward with a rematch versus Tyson Fury.

In his lone successful defense, Dubois earned the most prolific victory of his career. He stunningly tore through countryman and former two-time unified heavyweight titlist Anthony Joshua in one-sided, fifth-round knockout last September 21 at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The clock struck midnight on Dubois’ Cinderella story when he was knocked out again by Usyk in their July 19 undisputed championship, also at Wembley. Dubois previously suffered a ninth-round knockout to Usyk in their August 2023 meeting.

To his credit, Dubois has stuck around much longer than several other contenders in the IBF heavyweight elimination process.

Sanchez has already seen the likes of Hrgovic, Efe Ajagba, Moses Itauma and Richard Torrez all bail in the series of ordered bouts.

Assuming this matchup moves forward, a win will put Sanchez in contention for his first full title fight. The closest he has come to this stage was in a May 2024 stoppage defeat against Agit Kabayel for the WBC interim heavyweight title.

Just one fight has followed for Sanchez, a second-round knockout over a walkover opponent in Tijuana, Mexico.

Sanchez was previously due to next face Ajagba in what would have been a rematch of their October 2021 meeting. Sampson Lewkowicz’s Sampson Boxing won a prior purse bid, but Ajagba declined to move forward with the fight and the opportunity to avenge an October 2021 defeat.

Sanchez was then stuck in a holding pattern while he waited out a series of ordered fights. All he can do now is hold his breath and hope that Dubois’ team is sincere in its intention to use the next seven days to make something happen.

A victory by Dubois could place Ring and undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk in an awkward position. Dubois (22-3, 21 KOs) was stopped twice by the Ukrainian, in 2023 and again last July, yet he would become Usyk's mandatory challenger if the fight takes place and his hand is raised.

Sanchez has a big speed advantage over most of them but if his knees aren't fixed then he'll he a sitting duck and a quick route to a title shot. He'd be a legitimate bogeyman if nobody takes the fight. If everyone down to Jalolov rejects it then they should just put him against Chisora for a final eliminator. No doubt Chisora would reject that but something has to give to get themselves a mandatory.

Isn't it Fabio, then Kabayel next up if he's fighting mandatories? By the time Usyk had gotten through those guys, if he does, I could see any combination of Dubois and Itauma battling it out for the IBF top slot if Dubois takes and wins this.

Dubois vs Usyk 3 isn’t ever happening, and Dubois has already had an upgraded world title. Quite rightly, instead of chasing a meaningless bauble, I imagine team Dubois are looking for the most exciting opponent for the most money. Sanchez ticks neither box.
