Is this actually happening
I take back what I said before as thought this was all talk.
If JP has any success then what I thought I knew about boxing goes out the window.

I agree, both sides have got to agree to the deal. I don't think AJ has ducked Fury or vice versa. Not like the David Price fiasco.mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2025, 10:31I wasn't there during the negotiations so I've no idea. Bidarian salutes 'incredible day' with news that Jake Paul will fight Anthony Joshua
Nakisa Bidarian has heralded an “incredible day” with the news that Jake Paul will fight former two-time world heavyweight Anthony Joshua next month.
They will fight at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, on December 19 on Netflix.
Paul had mentioned his hopes of Joshua publicly several times before, and when his bout with Gervonta Davis – set for this month – fell out due to “Tank’s” serious out of the ring woes, Paul was left looking for another opponent to come in.
Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions who works with Paul, told Sky Sports Boxing: “It’s an incredible day. Jake thought of this in March this year and said, ‘I want to fight Anthony Joshua.’ People laughed then. I was here at Sky Sports in July, the question was asked, ‘do you see this happening?’ And our plan was to do this in March or April 2026. “Plans changed and Jake stood up and said: ‘I want to face Joshua now,’ so it’s Jake vs Joshua, Friday, December 19th.”
Bidarian said Joshua would not be allowed to weigh more than 245lbs on fight night. He weighed 244.5lbs for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in 2022, but has come in at 250lbs or just over in his five fights since. He weighed 240lbs for the first Usyk fight and was 230lbs for his pro debut in 2013.
Paul-Joshua will take place over eight three-minute rounds and the boxers will wear 10oz gloves.

Anthony Joshua prepares to break the internet, and Jake Paul’s face
Anthony Joshua is preparing to use Jake Paul as a springboard to big heavyweight fights.
The 2012 London Olympic gold medal winner today announced that he would face Jake Paul, on Netflix, on Friday, December 19 in Miami, Florida.
Joshua was wounded by his fifth-round stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois last September, to the extent that he has not boxed in more than a year since.
The popular Englishman was also nursing an arm injury and he and promoter Eddie Hearn have discussed what they want 2026 to look like as Joshua, 36, prepares to explore what happens in retirement and without boxing.
“I took some time out and I’m coming back with a mega show,” said Joshua of fighting Paul. “It’s a big opportunity for me. Whether you like it or not, I’m here to do massive numbers, have big fights and break every record whilst keeping cool, calm and collected. Mark my words, you’ll see a lot more fighters take these opportunities in the future. I’m about to break the internet over Jake Paul’s face.”
Joshua shot to fame in 2012 at the London Olympics and has not looked back. He is one of Britain’s most famous faces and has sold out stadiums for years. He’s boxed the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, Carlos Takam, Andy Ruiz, Dillian Whyte and Kubrat Pulev but suffered consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk as the Ukrainian set about establishing himself as the best heavyweight of the era.
However, Joshua missed out on a lucrative unification fight with Deontay Wilder years ago, and has yet to face his biggest domestic rival, Tyson Fury, in a fight some hope will still happen – next summer.
Paul-Joshua is on Netflix, is promoted by MVP – Paul’s company – according to the fight poster, and Paul is on the left-hand side of the promotional artwork, often reserved for the A-side.
And for a novelty bout that is likely to do incredible numbers in the build-up and on the night, Paul has 28.2m followers on Instagram and Joshua has 16.3m.
On a story on Joshua’s Instagram, he merely said of Paul: “He’s loco mhen!”

I do. And he badly miscalculated the Usyk fight thinking his size would get him through or he wouldn’t have gone near him. Look at the Dubois rematch, he wouldn’t dream of it.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑17 Nov 2025, 10:35I agree, both sides have got to agree to the deal. I don't think AJ has ducked Fury or vice versa. No boxer can ever complain about a late opponent having a different style anymore.
Jake Paul went from fighting a 135 boxer to one who's double that.
He's a true warrior

What a joke the guy has become.

Didn’t AJ do some kind of long term damage to Matt Legg? Messed up some nerve in his face or something like that?
Surely if he lands a clean one on Jake Paul here it won’t just be knocking him clean out it might see him in hospital for days.

Not an AJ fan but I also don’t think he deserves stick for taking this fight. Easy money (allegedly), more exposure in the states and with the younger gen.

Mannix and Mora on their increasingly daft podcast were saying that AJ is now chinny and if Jake lands on him he could be in trouble

The weight limit not an issue, AJ was under 245 for both Usyk fights

The only good thing about this is that it's next month, none of the usual 3 months build up etc, best case scenario Joshua dusts him early and this whole thing is done and dusted pronto
