Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul | NETFLIX - 19 December 2025
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul | NETFLIX - 19 December 2025
Probably won't happen. If it does I imagine it last a round and everyone wonders what the point of it was.
As for AJs legacy, I think it's pretty obvious now he's well behind Frank Bruno in terms of British Heavyweight talent, and his best win is probably Otto Wallin.

Wow - it actually sounds like a "proper" fight.
I cannot think of any scenario where Joshua can use this win as a platform for anything - boxing wise. Surely if Jake Paul lasts more than 60 seconds he'd have done well.
But you know what - I am going to say it, I think he could last 60 seconds. He might not be a boxer, but he is a bit more than an average guy of the street that he is being potrayed as. He has some fitness and has some (not much) craft. I could see him doing something more than what most expect - e.g. last 60 seconds, land a glancing body shot - and he does any of that then he would have exceeded expectations.
Joshua poleaxes him in a few seconds its not a good look either - literately other than the money he's making - he will not gain anything with this fight.

If he smashes Jake Paul he will give people a lot of satisfaction. If Jake Paul makes it even remotely competitive, he will gain a lot of respect.
I think this will be an interesting spectacle myself, and honestly yeah it would do a lot for Joshua to smash Jake Paul. Would probably boost his star power significantly honestly, and would make a potential fight with Tyson Fury back to as big as it would've been 6 years earlier, maybe not from a Legacy or Competitive perspective, but certainly from a Public interest perspective.

If AJ takes it 25% seriously, JP will get seriously hurt.
Imagine if JP got hit like the African MMA guy.
Let's see how it pans out, but I think AJ has some nastiness in him

underneath all that beard there's a huge chin on Jake Paul. I guess we'll see if he can take what Ngannou couldn't. I've watched a few Misfits boxing matches and they were sh1te, so I stopped, but I might watch this just because AJ is so unpredictable nowadays.

AJ can use this as a little spar for a match up with Wardley in 2026

Maybe Aj sees this as his last chance to crack America as was always the plan pre Ruiz. He knows he couldn't do it by beating anyone decent so took this route. Very clever.

I can't believe this is happening and it's an actual real fight, I'm sceptical, Paul doesn't strike me as stupid but I can't see AJ agreeing to a walk around. If it is real it's a blinder for AJ, he was due to have an 8 rounder for a million quid nwt he gets an easier fight for 40 million.

Are they using this to build up to AJ vs Tommy Fury?

It’s only a month away and pretty sure he only recovered from surgery quite recently so can’t imagine he will be in tip top condition.

Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul | NETFLIX - 19 December 2025
The thing being overlooked is that they had Cassius Chaney lined up for AJ. Seriously, they must have real concerns about him.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul | NETFLIX - 19 December 2025
Most likely one that focuses strictly on making the weight.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul | NETFLIX - 19 December 2025
What purse would he have got for an undercard bout v Chaney?mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2025, 18:21 The thing being overlooked is that they had Cassius Chaney lined up for AJ. Seriously, they must have real concerns about him.
Versus
What purse will he get for this debacle?
Probably a very easy decision to make for the team, who all make money from AJ fighting Paul.

Hearn has stated he was looking at getting $1m but will now get around 50 times that.Taansend wrote: ↑17 Nov 2025, 18:39What purse would he have got for an undercard bout v Chaney?mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2025, 18:21 The thing being overlooked is that they had Cassius Chaney lined up for AJ. Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul | NETFLIX - 19 December 2025
As absolutely ridiculous as this seems… is it that crazy compared to shit we have see all the time…
aJ is fading, coming of surgery and a knockout, hasn’t had a proper good win in 6 or 7 years… (although he had a decent performance ((still a wide loss for me)) vs usyk 3 or 4 years ago.
Paul is a 220+lb 28 year old man with over 10 boxing matches… now nearly all of these (likely all) have been sub English levle… but still as bad as this is, we actualy see worse regularly I think…
Hrg vs demori. Hunter vs cubos, yarde vs Diego… the ones I can think off in 2 seconds…
The reality is half of any prospects first 15 fights have an opponent as over matched or more over matched than Jake Paul is here… and for some reason when it’s a no name making < 10,000 we see it as less of a disgrace than when it’s a name making > 10 million….

I think there will be an agreement in place for this one, I just can't work out what it will be.
