What a shit week / couple of weeks.
What a shit week / couple of weeks.
1. Mark Kaylor passing away.
2. Joseph Parker failing a drugs test for coke (incredibly well known and known as a "Mr nice guy").
3. A "sell out" - fight between a 147 lbs and a 168 lbs fight was a borefest with the "hot piss" guy winning. First fight shouldn't have happened and a rematch didn't need to happen and this fight was awful.
4. A former 2 time heavyweight champion and one time "saviour" of the sport is fighting a youtuber.
5. And now (I know people won't agree here) but a white collar boxer wins the most coveted title in the sport (or at least a version of it).
I am chuffed to Wardley I really am, but Usyk will beat him with his eyes closed - but yet he is now a world champion.

Re: What a shit week / couple of weeks.
Usyk has cleaned out the British Heavyweight division.
I actually give Wardley a better chance than the others due to his unorthodoxy
As for the rest of your post, I agree. Especially hearing how Kaylor's last few years were....

Re: What a shit week / couple of weeks.
It’s on Yarde and Noakes to turn the tide on Saturday.
Re: What a shit week / couple of weeks.
Eddie Hearn has driven boxing into the gutter.
Re: What a shit week / couple of weeks.
Disagree re Wardley - I just think if Huni and Parker can come within minutes of a comprehensive points win then the disciplined, fitter and all around better Usyk is going to completely box his head off - couple of cavaets.
1 - Usyk is pushing 40 now.
2 - Usyk always (or usually) loses a few rounds even when he is completely the much better man (Bellew, Chisora, Joshua etc) - so whilst I can only see a dominant, comprehensive win - it might not be a complete shut out.
I am pleased for Wardley, but the manner in which Usyk destroyed Dubios kind of made DDD claim to being a world champion a bit of a mockery - and I suspect that's what would happen if Wardley fought Usyk. He deserves his shot at him, absolutely, but to call himself a champion of the world is a bit much and I suspect Usyk would show he is leagues above him - if they fought.

Hate to be negative but I think December is a lot worse…. No TV shows of note on the UK

It's bloody dire, the worst December of boxing since the plandemic.
Re: What a shit week / couple of weeks.
Benavidez v Yarde does have a lot of potential
Re: What a shit week / couple of weeks.
I'm off to a live boxing show in Barnsley this Friday, then a night out in Leeds on Saturday so not all bad.
Re: What a shit week / couple of weeks.
To put a positive spin on it kiwi, we have the decent 7 card in January.KiwiRider wrote: ↑18 Nov 2025, 13:35I know!maninthemiddle wrote: ↑18 Nov 2025, 06:40 Hate to be negative but I think December is a lot worse…. No TV shows of note on the UK![]()

Usually boxing in January is non existant.
Well as long as I can remember it is.

Looking forward to it.
But December always ends the boxing year with at least two big events.

You've got just 1, the Joshua - Paul debacleKiwiRider wrote: ↑19 Nov 2025, 13:55True that![]()

Don’t worry it gets worse. Rocky Fielding is fighting in Dubai tomorrow!

Re: What a shit week / couple of weeks.
boxing is in the gutter and even the highest profile matchups have been stinkers.
watching the likes of bivol, crawford and Usyk might well be a technical joy but in terms of excitement its like watching washing machines run through their programme.

Can’t say I have spent a second of an Usyk fight (not including that one heavyweight tune up) that I wasn’t enthralled by for Mabey 8 years.
Re: What a shit week / couple of weeks.
Agreed. He's not a traditional, exciting, knockout artist but he's great to watch.gregregegg wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025, 08:22Can’t say I have spent a second of an Usyk fight (not including that one heavyweight tune up) that I wasn’t enthralled by for Mabey 8 years.
Re: What a shit week / couple of weeks.
Yes - he is a fascinating man, fascinating character and a fascinating boxer to watch. I think that he just seems to go through the gears, the coolest man in the building, nothing seems to phase him. How he controlled the Bellew fight, always in complete control despite the British pundits thinking Bellew was going to do it and made such a great start was incredible and likewise vs Fury - hurt a couple of times, but no panic. He's incredible to watch and he is such an inspirational person also.joshj909 wrote: ↑21 Nov 2025, 08:59Agreed. Got the Monaco card as well, just dawned on me.
Not all is lost mate.
