Wasserman being sold

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

‼️ A Wasserman spokesperson has confirmed that a sale of Wasserman Boxing is now being explored.

Misfits, which Wasserman owns a 25% stake in and has a broadcast partnership with DAZN, would also be part of the potential sale.

Wasserman Boxing manages the technical and logistical elements of Misfits events, such as contracts, broadcast relationships, insurance, transportation and lodging.

A potential sale wouldn’t change anything for Wasserman Boxing’s existing partnerships and upcoming fights. A new owner would be able to change the name but otherwise maintain continuity of the business.

A deal for Wasserman Boxing could be announced before the end of the year.

I think we all know why Kalle is selling up.

It's Wasserman Corp selling rather than Kalle

Unfortunately seem to have hit a dead end. Loss of Eubank Jr was final nail in the boxing operation it seems. No real marquee names left and no chance of acquiring any in what is an increasingly thin talent pool.

Similar diagnosis for Boxxer. I'm surprised they haven't tried to sell up yet. Final year of Sky deal, or the year before, would have been better timing. Can't see any bright new talents signing with them and if they lose any more of existing stable they'll have nothing at all to sell. Four-event bbc deal isn't worth much.

Do you want to try reading the final sentence of my post again..? :)

"Four-event bbc deal isn't worth much"

What that means is:

- Boxxer has a 12 month, 4 event deal with the bbc

- That's not worth much.

- If more of boxxer stable leave, any sale value the company has will be driven down further. A four event deal with the bbc - two of which events are set to be completed inside the coming weeks, leaving two remaining - is not much of an asset.

I trust this clarifies things sufficiently.

If last nights show is anything to go by, they aren’t going to generate much from a sale.

I’ve probably been to about 500 shows in my life. This is arguably the worst I’ve attended.

They are slick, venue looked good, but there was zero atmosphere and you couldn’t wait for most of the fights to end, they were so badly matched.

As before, they also close the bars really early to force you to watch the TV fights. You are dry for 3 hours!

And they stick their biggest ticket seller on as the last fight of night, when he could have been used to kickstart some noise.

I’ve honestly got PTSD from that show.

Is this one of the promotions you're working with?

Any big signings or big deals in the works?

Sounds good! Multiple competing offers is Olympic-medallist calibre. Keep us posted on where / what you land with.
