JOHN CONTEH VS BOB FOSTER!!!!!
JOHN CONTEH VS BOB FOSTER!!!!!
This would be a interesting matchup and a great fight I think... Conteh had the edge in speed and would give Foster problems I think.... I'd actually give Conteh a shout at pulling off a close points victory.... veiws anyone?...

Conteh was a complete fraud and an injury prone hack.
Why anyone would pick him over Foster is beyond me.

Yes, in fact i followed his whole pro-career and have seen every single fight besides a few early ones.silkov wrote:How was he a fraud?... when he outboxed Saad Muhammad with one hand perhaps??... have you even seen any of his fights???Arbachakov wrote:Conteh was a complete fraud.
Technically, he was a great talent. That's as far as it goes.He does not deserve to be put in matchups with all-time greats.
Why not?... he fought some of the best of his era and gave Saad one of his toughest fights when he was basically a one-handed fighter.... he may have wasted a lot of his talent but he still showed enough to prove that he would have been a tough fight for Foster... and the way to beat Foster would have been to outbox him... which Conteh had the skills and speed to possibly do...Arbachakov wrote:Yes, in fact i followed his whole pro-career and have seen every single fight besides a few early ones.silkov wrote:How was he a fraud?... when he outboxed Saad Muhammad with one hand perhaps??... have you even seen any of his fights???Arbachakov wrote:Conteh was a complete fraud.

>>>What's your obsession with fighters that don't actually win fights?<<<
I'm curious as well about that?
As to Foster-Conteh...Foster would absolutely murder Conteh...Foster was much better than Conteh in every aspect and Foster would, in very brutal style, knock Conteh out cold! Compared to Foster, Conteh is a tomato can!

He won 4 world title fights actually... beat Ahmauda, Hutchins, Bennett, Lopez and was robbed against Parlov and had a close fight with Saad in their first fight... (where Saads corner cheated by putting what was basically cement onto his cut eyebrow.... ) so how did he 'not win a fight'Decagon wrote:What's your obsession with fighters that don't actually win fights?silkov wrote:How was he a fraud?... when he outboxed Saad Muhammad with one hand perhaps??... have you even seen any of his fights???Arbachakov wrote:Conteh was a complete fraud.
and why do you follow Barry around like a lovesick poodle?... havent you any pride???...
re
Saad was not a fighter who was slick and hard to hit...he was a face first fighter, so out-boxing him for a few rounds means little...especially when the ultimate outcome is two wins including one early knockout win for Saad! It doesn't matter much how good a fighter might look for a while in a bout when the end result is a loss!
>>>so how does Foster blast Conteh out??<<<
Because Foster is a true, all-time great HOF fighter as well as one of the top 5 all-time light heavyweights...one of the most heavy-handed fighters to ever step in the ring and a great technician with excellent skill...Foster is in a whole other league than Conteh.

Quite whining...Arbachokov is arguing against me in a different thread...though you don't see me whining about it asking him why is he following this person, or that person...grow up and quit acting like a baby!!!

Re: re
Hey, the whining is all from you, discuss why Foster would ko Conteh in a adult fashion and I'll reply in an adult fashion... but coming on here calling Conteh a tomato can is just juvinile and stupid and will be treated as such...barry wrote:>>>and why do you follow Barry around like a lovesick poodle?... havent you any pride???...<<<

Barry probably has seen about four Conteh fights at the most anyway so i wouldn't bother about him.
Having said that Conteh was clearly a fraud and hack. However he wasn't as bad as the laughable Eddie Mustapha Muhammed or frontrunning dwarf Qawi.
I'd go to so far as to say that supposed golden era of light heavyweights is one of the most overrated of all-time.Mediocrities all.

Actually I made this thread myself so how am I following you??... if anything youre following me around!. As for other threads I go where I please. One of your problems seems to be that whenever I say something about Jones Jr you think I'm addressing you... you maybe his number one fan but your not him I'm afraid...

Anyway I'm tired of this crap, if youve got no constructive argument about this matchup I'm not going to bother answering you...

re
Archibaldy---I was watching boxing while you're dad was still trying to get his first stinky finger from your mom, but hell, even if I had only started following boxing a year ago that would be enough to rule you...I've forgotten more about boxing than you will ever know...sorry, but that's just how it is...
like me, some people do, and like you, others either follow, or wilt away and die!

Well I disagree with you saying they were frauds... why dont you tell me why they were frauds?... Foster was a great fighter but was only human and Conteh had the skills to have given him a very tough match and perhaps even beat him imo... I'm just trying to get an adult discussion going on this but it seems a bit of a lost cause really so far....Arbachakov wrote:I might add i may have overrated Foster himself on this thread.
he beat very few top notch fighters and his performance against the comically inept Chris Finnegan was actually much worse than Conteh's two efforts.
Both men were frauds.Foster just did much more.

Oh, i know.I've not meant a single thing i've said in this thread.Decagon wrote:Foster wasn't great at heavyweight, but at 175, he had everything. Sometimes you just run out of patience with heavy handed, contentious posters like Silkov and the like pushing their agenda's all over the place.
I wondered what it would look down at their level. It kinda sucks i have to say.

Deep breaths....
Whats my agenda then???... I'd really like to know... if you want to see a fraud look in the mirror, Barry and me may have our arguments but at least we say what we mean...Arbachakov wrote:Oh, i know.I've not meant a single thing i've said in this thread.Decagon wrote:Foster wasn't great at heavyweight, but at 175, he had everything. Can't argue with that...but Archibaldy demonstrated his intelligence and actual knowledge of boxing by trying to claim that Mancini was far superior to Gatti. Better than Gatti, probable, but not by much at all!
