Almost no matter what happens he becomes a credible opponent for AJ again because he just fought for the title
My guess is Joshua 'fights' Paul, Fury starts talking about kicking his arse again, and then some time in 2026 they fight.

I don't think much more than that is happening.
But if you believe that Joshua fights Paul then what could happen other than a KO win for Joshua that wouldn't completely ruin Joshua vs Fury?

If he carried Paul the distance. Nobody gives a f*ck if he fights Fury or not.
As I said earlier, the most likely outcome, is he carries paul for a few rounds then a quick one punch stoppage.

However, it's also possible that he is pretty much done anyway, and isn't that bothered.

He could probably still sell a fight with Fury if he went the distance with Paul.

I am not sure that the people who will buy the PPV will care.

Sadly, I would probably buy it for curiosity value.

A lot of speculation about, as is to be expected.

But if Joshua doesn’t put JP away conclusively (regardless of whether or not it’s a scripted performance) this surely has to hurt the Fury fight one way or another. Not enough to stop it from happening, granted.

Regardless of whether this a sanctioned bout or not, they can have back room arrangements, it's not like any commission is going to investigate, they will take their fees and shut the fornicate up.
That’s exactly how I see it.

The idea that just because AJ has earned mega bucks in his career he therefore doesn’t need to play ball to an extent doesn’t make any sense to me.

Before the Jake Paul fight suddenly became a possibility, AJ was due to fight Chaney for a purse of $800,000 so i find it very believable that he’ll stick to the script within reason against Paul to earn 10,20,30 times that much.

Lawrence Okolie’s ‘glowing’ reports on Jake Paul’s performances in sparring

There are several reasons why Joe Gallagher is this week attending the WBC Annual Convention in Bangkok, Thailand. Firstly, there was the not-so-small matter of claiming the WBC Champion of Life Award for winning his gruelling battle with stage-four cancer.

More importantly for Gallagher, however, is the progression of his fighters. The biggest of those he trains, in terms of sheer size, is heavyweight contender Lawrence Okolie, 22-1 (16 KOs). The former WBO cruiserweight beltholder occupies the number-one spot in the same WBC heavyweight rankings where Oleksandr Usyk is champion.

On Monday, following speculation about the Ukrainian’s future after relinquishing the WBO title, Usyk all but confirmed plans to fight again when he announced that no longer being undisputed champion was “temporary”. Gallagher is now looking forward to finding out the status of the WBC belt.

“Lawrence is fighting out in Nigeria at the end of the year, he’s WBC number one and we’ll find out this week what Usyk’s intentions are,” Gallagher told BS. “As you heard on the stage, giving that [WBO] belt up to allow [Fabio] Wardley to become champion is a temporary thing. You can tell the drive is still there and he still wants that undisputed title. So I don’t think he’ll be giving up any WBC belt this week.”

Which means that Okolie, should he win, is likely to face Agit Kabayel – who faces the lightly-regarded Damian Knyba on January 10 – for the right to challenge Usyk. But what has frustrated Gallagher the most is how difficult it’s been to get the industry to recognize Okolie as a key player at heavyweight.

“We’ve got to go to Germany in January, watch Kabayel, and we’ll try and get that fight,” Gallagher explained. “We want Lawrence to be out and be spoken about. I joked when I saw [TalkSport’s] Gareth A. Davies and Spencer Oliver the other week – I said, ‘Could you just say something to me? Could you say Lawrence Okolie?’ They all said it then I said, ‘Great. So you can say his name. You’re quick to reel everyone else’s name off but you never say him. I just thought you all had problems pronouncing it’.

“We want Larence Okolie on everyone’s tongue next year.”

Ironically, the 32-year-old Okolie has recently made more headlines for his work as a sparring partner for Jake Paul than his progress in the banner division. Paul has also employed other contenders Frank Sanchez and Jared Anderson to assist with the monstrous task of upsetting Anthony Joshua on December 19.

“I messaged Lawrence and he was quite glowing about Jake Paul, to be honest, on how well he was doing with Frank Sanchez and Jared Anderson,” the trainer reported.

So, is Okolie picking Paul to actually beat Joshua?

“I don’t think he’s gone as far as that!”

AJ will take it easy on him, but he'll still be going for the stoppage. I can see a corner or ref stoppage that JP protests to the high heavens.

Jake Paul has retire 10 of his opponents. None have fought on after facing Paul.

I love scrutinising boxers records. 2 of those are fighting on the Netflix bill.

My prediction for this fight either

1. The fight is cancelled very late on due to absolutely any reason

2. Paul will lose on an injury, hit to the back of the head or any other plausible reason so AJ does not lose face and Paul can fight on at a later date.

3. AJ has sold out and will fall inside 3 rounds

If nothing else, 19th December will be very interesting to see how this supposed fixed fight will play out live.

The likes of Silva, Diaz and Askren had obvious reasons for struggling against JP. Tommy, as average as he is, inflicted JP’s first loss in an apparently legit, competitive fight.

This malarkey with Joshua is something completely different, even if you believe AJ is on borrowed time as a heavyweight contender.

https://talksport.com/boxing/3791922/an ... aul-fight/

In a fresh update on how Joshua's preparations are unfolding so far, Eddie Hearn told talkSPORT Breakfast he is leaving no stone unturned.

He said: "He's good, he's really dialled in as if he was fighting an elite heavyweight.

"The difference is in this fight is he has to make a specific weight which is a lot lighter than he would be going into this fight.

"But he's on track and is in Miami with not long to go until the fight. I can't believe what's about to happen to be honest.

"Yeah he's ready to go and do a job on him, and I just can't believe we've signed the contract to fight him."

Okolie got a pretty big opportunity as chief support for Usyk re-unifying at Wembley, and stunk the place out. Nobody wants to know because he's not good to watch.

That said, if they end up making the Kabayel fight in the UK I'll probably go, but not for Lawrence.

Jake Paul-Anthony Joshua fight week kicks off with three-fight card in Miami Beach

A three-bout card will kick off fight week for the final major U.S. show of the calendar year.

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and Netflix partner up for a December 16 MVP Fight Week Showcase 2 show featuring Luan Medeiros and former bantamweight titlist Shannon Courtenay in separate bouts. The show will air live on MVP and Netflix’s YouTube channels beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. PT from LIV at Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

The event will be intertwined with the official media workout to formally kick off the Jake Paul-Anthony Joshua fight week. The anticipated novelty fight will headline a December 19 Netflix event from Kaseya Center, home to the NBA’s Miami Heat.

Joining the Paul-Joshua main card is 2024 U.S. Olympian and MVP signee Jahmal Harvey, 1-0 (1 KO), who faces Kevin Cervantes, 5-0 (5 KOs), in a six-round, 130lbs contest.

Harvey made his pro debut on the August 22 Most Valuable Prospects 14 DAZN show from Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. He made quick work of Marcelo Del Aguila, whom he stopped at the end of the first round.

The 2024 Olympic quarterfinalist is now prepared to set the tone as anticipation mounts towards Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua.

“Being on the main card of Jake vs. Joshua is a massive stage and platform to showcase my talent and really introduce Jahmal Harvey to the world,” Harvey told Boxing Scene in a provided quote. “I’m grateful to my team, MVP and Netflix for making it happen. I’m looking to seize the moment and make a big statement to kick off the main card live on Netflix!”

Before they get to the main course, MVP has detailed its full slate of appetizers.

The MVP Showcase card continues the tradition born from the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano III fight week, when a two-fight card was featured in New York City during the media workout. This offering will be utilized by MVP to show off its new signees – Medeiros, Courtenay and Jocelyn Camarillo – in showcase appearances.

Medeiros, 6-0 (4 KOs), will take on Mexico’s Hugo Macias, 7-1-1 (5 KOs), in a scheduled 6-round lightweight battle.

The bout will mark the second straight U.S. appearance for Medeiros, a former amateur standout from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He debuted in the states in a June 8 points win over Tony Aguilar in Orlando, Florida. Macias fights outside of Mexico for the first time in his 3-year pro career.

Also making her U.S. debut is England’s Courtenay, 9-3-3 (3 KOs), who faces Minnesota’s Jessica Radtke Maltez, 3-2-2 (1 KO), in a bantamweight contest scheduled for six rounds.

Courtenay, 32 – who hails from the same Watford hometown as Joshua – aims to revive her career after a difficult past few years. She previously held the WBA 118lbs title, which she lost at the scales even ahead of her October 2021 majority decision defeat to Jamie Mitchell in Liverpool.

Just three fights have followed, including a stunning six-round points loss to Catherin Tacone Ramos last October 19 at Copper Box Arena. A win over Bec Connolly followed this past March, before Courtenay opted to join the growing list of notable women in boxing on the MVP roster.

Rounding out the MVP showcase event, Camarillo, 5-0 (0 KOs), risks her perfect record against Mexico City’s Yazmin Martinez, 3-2-2 (1 KO). The 21-year-old from Indio, California was the top-ranked U.S. junior flyweight at the peak of her standout amateur career, which has translated nicely thus far in her pro journey.

------------------------
The full fight-week schedule is below. All pre-fight events are open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis and will air live at 6:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. PT on the respective YouTube channels for MVP and Netflix Sports.

Tuesday, Dec. 16 (LIV at Fontainebleau Miami Beach): MVP Fight Week Showcase 2, featuring open workouts for all the fighters on the December 19 Netflix show as well as a three-fight card that evening from LIV at Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

Wednesday, Dec. 17 (Fillmore Miami Beach): Final pre-fight press conference, featuring Paul, 12-1 (7 KOs), Joshua, 28-4 (25 KOs), the Alycia Baumgardner-Leila Beaudoin undisputed 130lbs championship co-feature and the undercard fighters.

Thursday, Dec. 18 (Fillmore Miami Beach): The ceremonial pre-fight weigh-in for all bouts from the main card and preliminary undercard for the December 19 fight night.
-----------------------

“Jake vs. Joshua fight week builds up to the biggest event in boxing this year, with fight week events hosted at the iconic LIV at Fontainebleau Miami Beach and Fillmore Miami Beach, all free and open to the public,” said MVP co-founder and CEO Nakisa Bidarian. “The week will begin with the return of our signature series of sanctioned, professional fights within our open workouts event, MVP Fight Week Showcase 2, spotlighting three MVP fighters: our newest signings Luan Almeida and US prospect Jocelyn Camarillo, joined by former world champion Shannon Courtenay.

“The week continues with a massive press conference and our public weigh-in, each bringing together the entire fight card. We also look forward to formally introducing the global Netflix audience to US Olympian Jahmal Harvey, who will open the main card of Jake vs. Joshua, and who we believe is the most promising male boxing prospect to come out of Team USA this decade.”

Added Paul: “MVP keeps raising the bar. Two GOATs in Anderson Silva vs. Tyron Woodley, Alycia Baumgardner ready for a takeover and doing so with men’s rules, and now Jahmal Harvey joining the main card to show the world why he’s America’s next superstar.

In a perverse way, I think there'll be a real buzz in the venue just before the opening bell. Once it rings, Jake's going run like Mo Farah.

I definitely think the Tyson fight was 'agreed' before hand, but IMO this one will be on the level. I do think AJ will be told by his own team not to hit JP too hall. Corner pull out or DQ are definitely possibilities, but I can also see Jake Paul waking up with some of his teeth missing.

There are no advertisements for this on Netflix at the moment, and it's only two weeks away; it seems very weird to me. You would think they would be shouting from the rooftops about it on the channel.
