Hatton looked fukin terrible

Post by Goz »

He looked like a retired fighter to me.

If you had said that was Hatton at age 42 I would have believed you.

My missus didn't recognise him, ok she's not a fight fan but even so I found it incredible to look at him and believe that is one of the best fighters in the world.

I will have money on him to lose his next fight unless it's against me.

Have to agree, Ricky looked shocking tonight. I wonder what weight he was? 12 and a half stone at least I think, any guesses? I know every fighter puts on weight but he takes it to a new level, one of these days it will take its toll and he'll be fecked in the middle of a fight due to weight making.

Exactly Topdog. History proves that fighters who push out the boat between fights have a short career and I think Ricky is taking this to the extreme.

Which is a shame because I love watching his fights and cheering him on but I feel a defeat is imminent.

Surely you just can't sustain that play hard train hard lifestyle.

looked like shit before the tszyu fight too, just we didnt see him as often. As long as he's 140 come fight night he'll be fine.

Needs to get busier though, that will result in him not blowing up as much.

Can he make 140 though? I'm not sure if he can, he must have been close to 13 stone tonight, he fights in 4 months, i think all this is gonner catch up with him soon. Is he really still into boxing? "Yeah ive been down the gym but ive not been doing anything too heavy yet" Hope i'm wrong because i'm a BIG Hatton fan, but maybe he's bored with it, he's worth millions now.

I didn't think he looked too bad.

Then again, I have conditioned myself over the years to look in the mirror, see an overweight skinhead with too many pies and beers on the body clock and come to the same judgment! :TU:

Hes always done this, remember how fat he got pre-Tyszu - is this any different. As long as he trains with his usual intensity he'll be the best conditioned 140lber

The problem comes when he losses hunger in the gym and doesnt train as hard - this is more likely to be for a smaller name fighter

Maybe Hatton is anorexic. They do say anorexics look in the mirror and see a fat person.

Hatton has evidently eaten Junior Witter in order to stop the talk of the two of them fighting.

In fairness blowing up and partying between fights didn't shorten Roberto Duran's career. I think you will find that Billy Graham will work him like a horse once the time comes for serious training. That man takes no shit, from Hatton or any other of his fighters. Its his way or no way.

I think that Ricky is the type of fighter that needs to break up the monotony of the fight game by enjoying himself in between fights. He may not have reached this far without it, in fact. If he felt the need to be deadly serious about his profession and remained dedicated, in a way that most people seem to expect, then he may have called it a day long before now. It is very difficult for some young guys to see all his mates out on the town generally enjoying LIFE whilst being locked away dedicating the best part of his younger years to a very narrow existence. Some fighters' personalities and characters are better suited to that. But others will feel they are missing out and that will affect them mentally, calling into question their hunger for the game.

Up until now Ricky seems to have got the balance right for him and has never had problems making 140lbs in the past and there is no reason why he shouldn't in the future.

Ricky appears to be an intelligent guy and only he knows what his ambition is for the rest of his career. He may well already have fulfilled it and is now looking to cash in with a few more fights. Who those fights are going to be with are always going to be the subject of much back and forth on this forum. I guess we will all have to wait and see.

Hatton could be 92 and I'd still not give Witter a 50/50 chance.

All the weight-fluctuations between bouts cannot be healthly. Never mind that Ricky has to make 10st for his next fight, from a health and general well-being viewpoint it's not good for the human body, IMO.

I wonder what Ricky will look like once he retires and has been out of the ring for a long, long time? Having people like Billy Graham & Kerry Kayes especially, help Hatton no end. I don't think people realise how important and good someone like Kayes is to have in the training camp.

Kayes knows his stuff inside-out. If I were a boxer, I'd like Kerry in my team. He gets fighters on a good diet, good nutrition, and makes them as strong as hell with his weight-lifting program.

I agree about Grahams training but you have to admit that Hattons blowing up between fights isn't good.
I have to say search my instinct says you are right. but i'm not qualified to know these things. It might be a case of different strokes for different folks.

The shaved head was for charity (Matt Hatton had it done too) but i think it would actually suit him on the night of a fight when he's carrying less weight in his face - he would look more menacing. :TU:
