GGG, Antonio Tarver, Nigel Benn and others were elected to the 2026 International Boxing Hall of Fame
The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced on December 4th for the class of 2026 that GGG, Antonio Tarver, Nigel Benn and others including Jimmy Clabby were elected to the highest boxing honors. However, I am half glad there were inducted, but I'm not satisfied that even though Benn was elected to the IBHOF, he was inducted before his rival Chris Eubank, who was snubbed and he should have been elected to the IBHOF together with Benn, but it didn't happened and I felt that their hall of fame system is broken. Benn's Hall of Fame honors would never be complete with Chris Eubank because without Eubank, Benn wouldn't be one of the stars inn the boxing era in the 1990s and same goes to Eubank whom I hope the IBHOF would elect him for the 2027 International Boxing Hall of Fame. Could anyone give your thoughts on the class of the 2026 International Boxing Hall of Fame?

Thanks for posting this.
Didn't hear a word about it.
Didn't realize that GGG had been retired that long. Tarver and Jimmy Clabby are borderline picks. Never thought of Benn as a Hall of Famer.

Still Paddy DeMarco is not in the hall of fame. Wow!

Benn had a good career. McLellan, Barkely, Eubank II and there were others. HOF is more like a bit of fun really. I don't begrudge him his place.
Benn always said that his KO of Barkley in 1 round cost him a fight with Ray Leonard. That would have been highly entertaining.

Benn was never the best in any weight class.
At super middleweight I would have him behind Jones, Toney, Collins, Eubank, Nunn
And at middleweight behind Nunn, Toney, Collins, Johnson, McCallum, Kalambay, etc
If Benn gets in why not guys like Gil Turner, Joey Giambra, Rubin Carter, etc? I don't see why he would be above those guys

Benn was elected to the IBHOF under the modern category where fighters last fought starting from 1989 to now as the Modern category while the guys like Gil Turner, Joey Giambra and Rubin "Hurricane" Carter were from the Old-Timer category of the Late Era where fighters last fought in 1988 which was the last year of the Old Timer late era since the IBHOF changes the category rules 10 years ago. Also, don't forget about Joe Calzaghe ranking ahead of Benn at super middleweight.Cojimar 1946 wrote: ↑06 Dec 2025, 12:50 Benn was never the best in any weight class.

Marlon Starling and Glen Johnson should be inducted.

Benn wouldn't have the IBHOF inductions without inducting Eubank in order to complete the legitimacy of the IBHOF. "The Magic Man" Antonio Tarver was inducted, but I wished they induct the other "Magic Man" in Marlon Starling. Also, Jimmy Clabby was the rival of fellow Hall of Famer Les Darcy as they were from the Old Timer of the early era. Have anyone notice in recent years, the IBHOF committee voted fighters from the old-timer category between the early and late era? This coming Hall of Fame induction in 2026 honored Clabby from the early era Old Timer and for next year in 2027, they would induct the fighter from the Old-Timer in the late era.
