Tony Bellew Terrible Scorecards
Another horrific feature on DAZN to have this guy giving scorecards. He was giving McCormack rounds that he clearly lost. His scorecard for that fight was ridiculous.

He should be nowhere near commentary or punditry..

Re: Tony Bellew Terrible Scorecards
It seems like Carl Frampton when he's on the call sees almost every fight even. Or within 1 or 2 points.
There's not any particularly good TV scorer anymore.

He’s made a few weird calls recently.
Including when he said Eubank Junior ‘The Bigger Man’ was saving himself for the second half of the Benn rematch.

Well for example. Walker won 4 of the last 5 rounds on official scorecards. Bellew had McCormack winning 4 of those last 5. There were a couple of rounds that he clearly lost and Bellews scorecard pops up and you see he gave him the round. He isn't capable of doing scorecards.

Of the first 10 rounds Bellow scored the 2nd, 5th and 10th walker…. (I don’t think he gave a score again after the start of the 11th, so I will have no comment on the 11th)TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑07 Dec 2025, 00:32 Well for example. Boxrec fans scoring (not great but as good or better than judges most of the time) of the first 10 rounds only have walker the 5th and 10th)…
So bellew was not wildly out of line with his cards there.
Walker won the 10th, probably won the 11th and definatly won the 12th… so yes he finished strong, but I see nothing crazy about it.

Yeah that's one of the rare times he didn't see it really close. When it wasCaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑06 Dec 2025, 22:41Didn't Carl have Zach Parker winning something like 11 rounds to 1 against Buatsi ??

Tony Bellend has always sucked.
Average boxer with a padded record, beat whenever he stepped up, a black hole of charisma, thick as pig shit, yet he has a punditry career

I remember the second Usyk-Fury fight. Him and the whole DAZN team had me thinking Fury had won!

He did nothing in that fight and Bellew wasn't far wrong for once.

I thought McCormack was supposed to be the second coming of Jesus Christ's more talented brother?
Found out and done the first time he even slightly stepped up

"Probably" won the 11th says it all from you.
4, 5, 7, 10, 11 are super clear Walker rounds. Very easy to score. There are other ones but they were closer and not super clear like the above. I still thought Walker won them, like round 2 for example.
In the seventh McCormack got visibly hurt to the body.
Now check out Bellews scorecard.
He was also horrific with his scorecard during the McGrail fight. He even admitted he doesn't know what to do with points taken off. He just hasn't got a clue how to score fights.

I love Carl on coms.
Bellew disappoints me- he should have made f-you money and be able to speak his mind, but alas he is another company man towing the line...

I’d be interested to know how “pundits” are chosen.
Despite all shows being DAZN, It looks like the broadcast is “managed” by the promoters as Matchroom and Queensbury shows have there own “team” pundits.

i lost count I have shouted at the tv “you
lying $$$$ when a boxing expert is asked how they scored a fight???
Perhaps a more pertinent question to the “expert” should be “could you be arsed to score the fight”

Froch gave some good insight into the world of punditry in an interview with Tris Dixon recently basically saying that it was expected of pundits to follow the agreed upon narrative and talk up the house fighter and that if you didn’t you weren’t invited back.

Absolutely spot on.
Re: Tony Bellew Terrible Scorecards
Absolutely!
Then trotting out the "I had it by 2...a couple of rounds could have gone either way..," trope.
Re: Tony Bellew Terrible Scorecards
One of the worst I can ever remember was Callum Smith - John Ryder.
Ryder won that fight & won it clearly for me.
They went to the studio after & it was Smith’s fellow scouser Bellew, another fellow scouser in Jonas & his gym mate at the time in Crolla.
Bellew said that fans were only giving Ryder rounds because he was the underdog & was doing better than expected & the other two went along with it.
I’ve never taken him seriously since.
That was a worse robbery than Taylor - Catterall in my opinion but didn’t get half the backlash because the pundits tried to shut it down with Smith - Ryder.
