This would have been a great match for both men. It would be a terrific fight. I don't know who would have won, though. A draw maybe?

"1980-1982 Cooney" by a Tko, somewhere between rounds 8-12 I think.

The version of Cooney in 1984 probably wins by a narrow decision.

The version of Cooney from 1986(The Eddie Gregg) fight, probably likely gets Oscar out of there before it goes the distance as well. I'm only about 70-75% on this though because Cooney could've also had a very limited gas-tank by this time period as well, so who knows, really.

Anyway, This was at least seemingly a very brief Extra Strong resurgence version of Cooney, who seemed to have become more explosive than ever. What his actual fighting stamina was by this point though, is another question to ponder.

By 1987 though, Cooney very obviously had profound stamina and resilience issues.
I think that Oscar would've very likely beat this version of Cooney. It's basically right around a 90% certainly actually, in my personal opinion.

Basically it's the same for the 1990 version of Cooney.
Oscar probably beats up that version quite profoundly.

Cooney definitely had the size and the strength to knock Bonavena out. Bonavena almost certainly had the stamina advantage, but I don't know if he could hold up to the punishment coming from Cooney throughout the fight.

I'd have to lean toward Cooney by a KO around the 6th or 7th.

Either Cooney take a decision or stopping Ringo in 5 rounds with a big left hook.
