Obviously there are still some good fights out there for him but at his age and given the wins he's had, he doesn't need them. It would've been nice to see him against Boots/Ortiz before though as a changing of the guard fight.

I agree. He is a great fighter, but I couldn't put him in front of Inoue or Usyk.
They are fighting the better fighters more frequently.
He dominated Canelo, but almost lost to Madrimov.
He could've had more close fights or even loses, if he didn't fight once a year.

i think he’s done.

You won’t post a 5 minute video like that and come back.

He’s gone.

Probably the right move. He's leaving money on the table, but when you're winning there's always going to be more money left, and eventually, you don't need more than you got so it's best to just leave it be.

I'm glad he got to show off his skills against some of his best opponents as his career wound down. It's a shame it took so long for him to get the big fights.

Strip him of everything immediately and order all required vacant title shots…

Craw is superb, but he is probably just trying to renegotiate the canelo rematch for a bit more…

I hate fake retirements… I think strip them of every belt and even there rank (so they need a tune up befor even challenging for a title)… also if someone retires out of a drug testing pool I would have 6-12 months back in testing befor you can return.

WBA: Interim champion Jose Armando Resendiz either upgraded or ordered to fight Bektemir Melikuziev.

WBO: With no. 2 Hamzah Sheeraz occupied, Diego Pacheco vs Jacob Bank would be in play if Bank beats William Scull next month.

IBF: Osleys Iglesias is owed a shot, presumably against Jaime Munguia or Callum Simpson.

I watched Andre Ward say that someone had told him he still had another fight in him. Andre said, "Yeah, that's the point." or words to that effect.

Best fighter of his generation. The decision to not take the Spence fight in 2022 and instead target Avanesyan may have contributed to Fox abandoning PBC and the sport with it. Biggest issue I see with discussing his historical place in the sport is that there will be a small cult of fans left discussing whether or not he was as great as globally known megastars.

Hope he stays retired and not use this as a ploy to leverage a bigger purse in a "comeback" fight. Crawford has earned his accolades and should enjoy the rewards of a stellar career.

Like some, I kind of wished Crawford had defended the SMW titles at least one time, but, given that he fought once a year, those belts would have gathered dust. However, we now have the potential for some excellent fights between strong contenders for those vacant titles.

I would've liked to see Crawford fight at least just once more, versus a middleweight(160) title holder, or even at least for some sort of vacant title/alphabet title belt, just to fill in that Missing Title belt on his career resume. I know that if I were a Pro Boxer with multiple weight division belts I'd become very OCD about that sort of endeavor/persuit, and therefore I really wouldn't be able to feel contentment unless I at least attempted to Win a Title belt, at least of some sort, at 160. :geek:

I hope he means it.

All elite boxers should follow the Lennox Lewis blueprint and get out of boxing on top, with their health and wealth intact.

Boxing is a very unforgiving sport and very few fighters get out without some impact on their health and wellbeing, let alone, on top and with nothing to prove.

Terence Crawford has the chance to achieve this and I sincerely hope he isn't tempted to reverse his decision.

Sounds final from Terence.
Good luck to him, he had a great career and made good money and most importantly comes out with his health intact.
Nice guy too man, always liked listening to what he has to say and he's rich in character and personality, I think he's genuinely one of the good guys.

Kind of disagree on that. Health is of course an argument. But a fighter like Crawford is still on top. It's only since the last 3 years he finally got to the big stage. He could at least do two more blockbuster fights at 160 or 154.

At 38 though, maybe 2 more fights means he's not retiring on top anymore.

Remember, the guy lives in Nebraska. Nebraska doesn't have a particularly high cost of living. He's made enough to get through his life.

CRAWFORD INSISTS HE'S HAPPILY RETIRED; GLAD TO SEE SPENCE BACK

Terence Crawford has reiterated that he has “nothing to prove” and is happy in retirement.

Having already claimed undisputed titles at junior welterweight and welterweight, Crawford ended his outstanding career by stepping up to 168 pounds and outpointing Saul “Canelo” Alvarez to become the undisputed super middleweight champion in September.

Since he hung up his gloves, the 38-year-old fighter from Omaha, Nebraska has taken the opportunity to travel the world and has been a regular ringside guest at major fights.

Crawford most recently traveled to in Egypt to watch Oleksandr Usyk defend his Ring and WBC heavyweight titles against Dutch kickboxing legend Rico Verhoeven. Crawford clearly still enjoys the unique atmosphere that surrounds a big fight, but he doesn’t have any urge to get back in the ring himself.

“That’s a part of boxing. When you retire with a lot of left in the tank, they want you to come back,”
Crawford told The Ring. “But, for me, I don’t have nothing to prove. I don't have nothing to gain. So therefore, you know, I'm happily retired.

“Don’t give them everything, leave with something. That way, you have it for later on for something else, so I'm happy with my decision.”

One man who has announced a comeback is Crawford’s old adversary, Errol Spence Jr.

The former unified welterweight champion hasn’t fought since July 2023, when Crawford dominated and stopped him in the ninth round of their eagerly awaited undisputed 147-pound title fight. Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) will travel to Australia to fight former WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) on July 26 (July 25 in the United States).

Spence, 36, admits that he thought long and hard about permanently retiring, but insists that the break has left him mentally and physically rejuvenated.

“I think Errol’s gonna do an amazing job,” Crawford said. “I’m looking forward to him getting back in the ring and I think he’s going to be successful in his comeback and I picked him to win.”
