What's Gilmour thinking about?

Post by Top Dog »

Noticed in todays Scottish newspapers that Tommy Gilmour allegedly won the bidding war in the Lenny Daws vs Barry Morrison British l/welterweight clash. But in the report he is quoted as saying that there are no scottish venues available for at least 2 months, so is opting for Morrison to go down to London to fight Daws??? What the feck? What's the point in that? Don't believe for a second that there is no venues available, could it be that Tommy doesn't want to pay the money out for the clash, and of course can make good money for nothing by letting Barry fight down there and take a percantage of the lads money. What's the point of putting in a bid if your going to come out with a feeble excuse like that. He's meant to be THEE promoter up here, time he acted like it and gave the boys some good backing and decent pay days. Kevin Anderson included, he's let the lad down badly, cause it doesn't look as if he'll fight in a title fight again this year. I.M.O Gilmour is a clown.

Mate, he is so tight he'd peel an orange in his pocket to save giving you a segment.

BC was bang on about him.

I think he is in some sort of set-up with Matchroom. Barry Hearns not exactly short of a bob or 10, dunno what Tommys thinking about losing the home advantage for his fighter. Same old, same old, money talks and bullshit walks attitude. Wouldn't say Daws wins this one easy, wee Morrison is a strong puncher, if he catches Daws it will be all over, should be a good fight, but still insist Barry would have a better chance if the fight was on in Scotland.

Gilmours calling Hennessy's bluff. Plenty of venues available in Glasgow between now and Christmas. What Gilmour hasn't got is TV dates. Matchroom have used theirs up and cannot do the fight. Hennessy won't be fooled by Gilmours game and will win the fight for cheap if it goes to bids. Tommy G is losing his grip in Scotland with Barry Hughes set to drag it into the 21st Century by actually putting some money in.

Matchroom have used up their tv dates? That explains why Barry can't have it up here, and also why Kevin Anderson probably wont be fighting again this year. Thought Barry Hearns would have handled their dates a bit better than that?!? Barry Hughes does seem to know his stuff, he's got a few really good fighter, with the likes of Scot Harrison and now Kenny Anderson joining him he could well take over in Scotland. Maybe Kevin Anderson should join him as well, at least then he could be fighting a bit more regular.

MICK STURBS, I was wondering how you knew that Matchroom have used up all their tv dates? Are you in the "loop" so to speak? So I'm submising that Matchroom can't put on any more televised shows till after the year then? Cheers.

He is so tight he wouldn't give a Dog a kick.

He is the king of B/S tells his fighters all the crap as if he is the Godfather of Boxing. Bottom line is though, when it comes to stumping up the cash to give them home advantage he fails every time. Docherty went to Edinburgh and Anderson to Birmingham and they were the Champions!!

Bottom line, he's just a Dinner Show promoter who tugs Hearns Shirt-tails and does as he is told to get his Mug on TV.

Boxingchat. You said that before and I though you were full of shit, but heh I think you are right, he's went down an awful lot in people eyes lately cause of his tight fisted manner. I think Anderson and Morrison would have been better to sign for Warren, but you can't tell the future can you.

Trust me, He wouldn't spit to give you a slide old Tommy. He's second only to a well known "Below average height, South London Promoter" in the Stingey league,

Ask Jawaid Khaliq, he got a whopping payday in South Africa because Tommy told the SA Promoter that's what he was worth and he hasn't fought since because when it's down to Tommy he won't pay him anywhere near what he himself said "He was worth". Even Mark Hobson has gone on record as saying that he has earned more in six months with Warren than he had in 3 years with Tommy tightwad.

Gilmour even rung Boxing News to complain about Hobson's comments, saying it can't be true, but it is by far! And next weekend he will earn even more. Think how Tommy must be feeling losing out on all those 25%'s from Hobson, gutted.

Te mans a Millionaire yet regularly shares a room with his cornermen to save the cost of a room when travelling....How tight is that. Granite is Tommy, Short Arms and Deep Pockets or what?

Kevin Anderson and Barry Morrison will start talking with English accents if Tommy keeps selling them off to the highest bidder rather than invest his own money in his own fighters.
