OK Neither are Brits but its relevant to Witter and Hatton.

BTW this means Castillo-Hatton won't happen

I think Harris will come of age and show why he was mr avoided

Credit for Harris and Castillo for taking an unecessarilly risky fight, a certain Mancunian could learn from this

I wasn't that impressed with Harris against Johnston and think Castillo wins this. Assuming he's successful, it would make him a legit player at 140 and therefore negate some of the criticism Rick would inevitably get for fighting a lightweight.

The level of animosity towards Hatton on this forum has shocked me a little considering he's a brit - i'm surprised you lot haven't blamed him for the crisis in the middle-east too.

I heard about this and IMo this is as much a quality fight as Hatton-Castillo. One thing is certain, whoever wins that fight cannot be faulted as Hatton's next opponent. I go for Castillo to grind him down and shrug off some monster shots to win by late TKO, in a great fight.

Good to see harris is back with Blackmoore, and it's good to see that Castillo is getting professional nutrician/weight making help.

I like Ricky, just get pissed off he doesn't take more risky fights, after URango his last 3 opponents will have been fights he had no chance of losing and his 38 before Tyszu also fall into that category.

I just get a bit bored with the whole Ricky looks terrible/is fat etc. everytime he's on the box like it's anything new - i hope these people aren't gonna change tack if he goes on to be (more of) a success.

I can't defend the Urango fight - it's poor, but i don't think you can say Collazo wasn't some sort of risk - especially as it was at a new weight. He was never gonna lose to Maussa, but it was a legit fight considering he'd just KO'd Harris (particularly as alot on here seem to hold Vivian in high regard).

I still don't see how Rick can get flamed on here but Witter gets a free pass for fighting even worse opposition. Corley was his first real challenge since he fought Judah - the likes of Kotelnik are solid but can you honestly say that you expected Junior to lose any of his fights post Judah? It can't all be because he was being avoided - he's had ample opportunity to make a name for himself off his own back but has been treading water for ages.

What baffles me even more is that he seems to have built-up this fan club that are convinced he's been dealt a shit hand, yet these people clearly haven't been turning up to watch him for the last few years which would have banished the talk of him not being a draw.

I don't critisise Hatton at all for his weight because hes the best conditioned fighter in the game come fight night. If he needs a liver transplant at 50 its none of my business.

Witter couldn't get big challenging fights though and Hatton could. Witter tried to get Gatti/Mayweather/Hatton/Cotto but couldn't get the big fight. Hatton could have got Mayweather/Witter/Judah/Tyszu2 after Tyszu and before could have got Mayweather/Witter/Judah/Corley/Cotto/Harris before.

Maussa was a soft touch and got lucky against an overtrained Harris who all the same put him down with the first punch of the fight. Maussa also lost every round against Cotto.

Collazo is a top fighter, but I think Team Hatton thought he'd be a soft touch and got a suprise.

Then again if we were in Hattons shoes would we want dangerous fights or easier fights and still make millions? As a fan you can't help being disapointed all the same

Its disapointing the Pinto fight never happened, I dont know if he hurt his hand or not, but if he did fight with a damaged hand and lost because of the hand he wouldnt be WBC champ today. In retrospect, seeing how old Phillips beat Pinto, he would have won with damaged hand or not but Pinto looked dangerous back then. It was also rumoured Witter turned down Maggee.

Against Collazo they thought they had no chance of losing - I dont think they studied him enough. He should have fought Mayweather instead of Collazo and Maussa. The fight was turned down flat without talk of money - even if you lose to PBF you can still make big fights - see Castillo/Corrales/Gatti

It would be close for Witter against Castillo, but i think that Castillo's lack of head movement and the fact he follows a fighter around the ring would cost him, Witter to get a close decision.
Harris is all wrong for Witter IMO, he throws hard and fast straight shots and likes to use alot of movment in and out, I think he would stop Witter in the middle rounds

Castillo's brilliant at cutting off a ring. Using subtle footwork followed by a punch to prevent an opponent from circling away.

I think too much emphasis is placed on the 1st Corrales fight. Castillo, who also seemed weight weakened & sluggish, was surprised that Corrales stood his ground. So he was basically in front of him all night & obviously didn't have to cut off the ring.

For Castillo, the chase is half of where he succeeds (unless vs an ultra slippery foe like Mayweather). He presses the action, makes the other guy react to him, slowly cuts off his avenue of escape (takes a few rounds) and uses lead rights and lead leaft hooks depending on which way the guy is moving.

Yeah, he looked plodding vs Casamayor, although that had a lot to do with Joel retreating to the ropes & tying up Castillo's left hand. Also, Joel spent a lot of time on the ropes. When Castillo got going, after 6 rounds, he started to look very good. I had JLC winning that fight.

Castillo's ring cutting was impressive in the 2nd Mayweather fight. He actually cut off a lot of Mayweather's escape routes. Maywetaher wasn't able to just dance around him and let off flashy combos. Floyd was careful not to put a foot wrong and made sure not to get hit with anything hurtful.

I think Castillo's composure will allow him to beat Harris. Vivian can lose his composure. They'll both be standing off trying to land at mid range, IMO. Castillo is very good fighting at this distance. No doubt Castillo wil take some of the hardest shots he's eevr taken. But when he finds his range Harris is getting busted up.

Given how drained he was from the Lazcano fight through Casamayor, Diaz, it's a miracle that Castillo went on such a good run. Hopefully he hasn't left itt oo late for the move up. If he has, he could get battered himself.

Julio Alvarez 'stopped' Castillo on a cut. It was a great slugfest, and Castillo was grinding him down. Alvarez' face was starting to really puff up and he seemed on his last legs after nine. Then, as both men come out for round 10, the ref waves it off! It was baffling, and then when the decision was announced Castillo realized he'd lost.

I think the Jauregei losses were cuts also. That is what ppl are saying. I'm hoping to get these fights soon, they're meant to be wars.

thanks for that, seems as if Castillo has wars alot, will be interesting to see if he can hang in a war with bigger guys at 140lbs.

Castillo will chop Vivian down in a very good fight.

Urango has quite a chance against Hatton. Urango has a monster chin, and a hard punch. Should be quite a battle. Have to go with Hatton being smart and choosing his spots....I wouldn't be surprised to see Ricky hit the mat with his butt.
