Coverage is rubbish. Looks like a documentary. It said Haymer V McKenzie. Why can't they just deliver what they promise?

Are you kidding me? It has been advertised in the papers, websites, and on their own channel..15 minutes remaining and still no Mckenzie V Haymer..

Thats was truly awful. The director must have been a work experience kid from school playing with the buttons - changing camera angles. I felt lke a teenager watching This life again.

This narrator blokes sounds like he needs a few hours kip.

Steve Holdsworth and Richie Woodhall's mics are not on load enough - not really a bad thing in Holdsworth case, I used to be a big fan but he has lost the plot - comparing commentating to boxing now!

Cutting a 30 minute fight (20 minutes of action + 10 inbetween rounds) to 20 minutes.

Giving the result away without actually having the MC announce it.

NOT SHOWING THE ORVIL MCKENZIE FIGHT. I was really looking forward to that one, now I'm not sure I will tune it. I've got a headache with the camera switches from the Brown fight.

I feel so sorry for Mick Helliet. It was a good bill with a cracking sounding atmospher. A huge opportunity with the delayed broadcast, but ABSOLUTELY RUINED.

If they insist on Woodhall and Holdsworth, why not just Woodhall and Holdsworth - why hire that awful presenter, who was still narrating half way through round one. Why not have it like the Eurosport coverage. I cannot understand why Steve Lillis isn't being used more often, he did a good job (after a nervy start) on the Bennett vs Earl bill. Knows his stuff also.

5 did the hard work, they got the deal, they obviously had enough camera's (cause my god, they wanted to show them off).... but my god that was botched.

If anything futher comes from this, I hope they learn from MAJOR mistakes.

I think they said they were going to show the Haymer vs McKenzie fight another night, does anyone know if they are going to and when?

Pissed off at this. Skipped through Cathy Brown's fight and when i seen the standard of the US show deleted it from the Sky planner. I have seen my fair share of shady bills on Eurosport but this I couldn't watch.

This show makes the Euro sport coverage of boxing look like HBO... absolutely awful!.... what was the point???... why is it that boxing fans are expected to put up with crap shows like this?.... if it was footie coverage thered be riots and speeches in the commons!. As for them showing stuff in the future my advise would be dont bother, unless you show a decent fight (who wants to see two butch girls slapping eachother???) with halfway decent presentation... even Steve Holdsworth seemed embarrassed by the whole thing!... 'boxing special' my arse!!! :x :x :x total utter crap! :box: :box: :box:

I do feel sorry for the female fighters when they give it there all but never get the same recognition as their male counterparts but that's the way it is sadly. Woman's boxing just doesn't cut it with me.

This wasn't the first time Channel 5 have showed boxing.

They show boxing nearly every Friday late night, usually ESPN fights the week before which I enjoy. This was just a one off bad show.

Yes but the first time they have filmed their own show isn't it and it looked amateurish in my opinion a real shame as the fights themselves were very good and this makes the whole show look shoddy.

It reminded me a bit of the live show that Bravo did a while back... but was much worse... do the TV people allow all their trainees to work the boxing shows or something?... and showing that girl fight?... what was the point of that?... womens boxing is much like womens football... nobody wants to watch it!... let them fight if they want but dont force us to watch it!!... ....why was it so hard to find a slot for the Haymer fight, it only went 2 rounds for christsake!... :x :x :x

Yes the atmosphere looked good. Any ideas when they will show the McKenzie fight - its not on this week (I have checked the Sky planner). If someone lets you know, do you mind (with their premission) telling the forum. I was seething after that coverage, but would still like to see the fight.

Silkov..... I don't think there is any comparison between Bravo's coverage and this one. The basic problems with Bravo's coverage was Sarah Cawood (eye candy but annoying) and that Ed Hall idiot. Clearly didn't even like the sport and were not that proffesional. Their questionning were horrible. The celebritiy guest part was also annoying and ironically perhaps, it was Cathy Brown who scored the main event to Colin Lynes (when he clearly lost on most peoples cards).

However, at least it was a decent attempt. They showed the 3 main fights in full (and LIVE), they didn't cut for ads between rounds much, they had more enthuistic commentators and the camera work/sound was pretty much like sky. Was it only me who was struggling to here Woodhall and Holdsworth on Friday? The basics to a tidy presentation was there for Bravo.... a few alterations (drop the celebrity stuff, new presenter) and it would have actually been superior to both Sky and ITV (when is the last time they show 3 live fights from the UK!). Basically everybody would need to be fired - Narrators, commentators, directors, scheduler etc to get the Five one up to anything remotely like a decent TV show.

I do wonder maybe if Barry Hearn's greater knowledge of the TV side of the things was the reason to Bravo's superior bill in terms of sound and camera work. I wouldn't like to say what happend, but maybe Hearn was telling the Bravo direct how it should be done.

Yep, well pissed off with Channel 5. I wouldn't have bothered taping it had I known it was just the women's boxing and NO Haymer-McKenzie

I'll give Five a second chance. I'm still struggling to understand how Haymer fell to pieces so quickly after appearing so reliable previously.

Butch,

Give Five a second chance AFTER tonights show. Its already been recorded. I would imagine it was the same director (the guy inspired by BBC's "this life") that did this and the first part.

I very much doubt this will be ANY different, but hopefully (after a few boxrecers bombared with emails) they might up the presentation next time (if there is a next time).

This Kevin Houston Coventry show (especially IF Asiku does fight) would be one five should consider.
