Shannon Briggs versus Mike Weaver
Shannon Briggs versus Mike Weaver
12 rounds.
Re: Shannon Briggs versus Mike Weaver
I'd favor Weaver. It usually took some doing to get rid of Weaver, so he'd probably be able to make it through the moments of trouble he'd get from Briggs in the early going.
I'd favor Weaver to stop Briggs around the 9th round.
I'd favor Weaver to stop Briggs around the 9th round.
Re: Shannon Briggs versus Mike Weaver
Sorry Goose, but this should be a 15 rounder not a 12 rounder because Mike Weaver made to the 15th round three times, first he knocked out "Big" John Tate in the final 45 seconds of the 15th and final round to win the WBA Heavyweight title, second he decision James "Quick" Tillis in 15 rounds as Tillis was boxing too passive and finally, he drew with Michael Dokes in 15 rounds of their rematch with Dokes defending his WBA Heavyweight title. The 15 rounder would favor Weaver, but could Shannon Briggs last 15 rounds in that era in his prime? We would never know since Briggs fought in 12 rounds before. In the 15 rounder, Briggs would have his moments punching on Weaver a lot, but he may punched himself out, then Weaver would take over with jabs and body punches, then he would either take a decision or stopping Briggs late. However, should the fight favor Briggs under the 15 rounder, then he would jump Weaver with big jabs, right hands and combinations without giving Weaver any space for a come back that Briggs may knock Weaver out in 5 to 8 rounds.
Re: Shannon Briggs versus Mike Weaver
Whether it's 12 or 15, Weaver wins either way, but a 15 rounder makes his victory all the more likely.

Weaver comes back from a first round knockdown to win by late stoppage.
