Merry Xmas to everyone on the forum. This year has been the most challenging one of my life and without being a melancholic melt I’ve really appreciated the friendship and interaction on here. I hope everyone is well and I’ve loved all the discussion and banter on here. I really appreciate it. Cheers

Re: Merry Christmas you lot
So I don't really care too much about Christmas or 'holidays' as they're called here in the US.
I only care about when I'm flying down to Mexico etc.
However, my Thai-American Buddhist wife & her family LOVE Christmas. She loves EVERYTHING, from the films to the songs to making our house be visible from Mars.
We had a little get together at our place tonight. I'm knackered from work this week but just chilling. There's about 20 Asians, 2 Mexicans, and an old white American bloke who is related to my wife's sisters best friend.
He's about 70 but looks 20 years older & they tried pairing him off with me but he just talks about American football or other random white American stuff that I know nothing about. I was sitting outside with the two Mexicans talking about Jorge Paez & La Flaca.
Meanwhile my Missus is on a mission & doing Shots galore. I say no as I'm just on beer & margaritas. But the rest of them are doing bourbon, tequila, vodka shots & whatever else.
Then the other old white bloke falls, knocks himself out, pukes up while unconscious & has to be taken away by an Ambulance.
Party mood is ruined, We haven't even opened our presents yet (except for a West Ham fleece hoodie I got because they needed the bag it came in) but they are blaming old white people.
I feel victimised.
So I'm listening to Salsa Navidad Musica while drinking Margaritas to keep myself happy.

Re: Merry Christmas you lot
He's the father of my wife's sisters best friends. So his 2 daughters were there (half Filipinas) & their kids (one each) & one of their partners.
The kids father is Cambodian American so my mother in law was making racist jokes (in Thai) about the half Cambodian kid wanting to eat our kittens. My Missus was translating this before she got too pissed up.

Sounds as dysfunctional as my family xmases of yesteryear.
Re: Merry Christmas you lot
Bit late but merry Christmas all.
Our house normally hosts on Christmas Day but an alternative was attempted this year. Suffice to say something of a balls up was made yesterday re dinner so I’ll be back in charge next year. It’s not as easy as it looks clearly.
