This is just utter bs. Leonard was very pleased with having made Duran quit in the ring, as well he should be.
No, he wasn't pleased. It bothered him for years! He even went to Panama City to see Roberto Duran and asked him what really happened in New Orleans. If he was pleased, he would have not made that trip.

But, something inside of him was telling him that you never beat the real Duran. You had to do all those tricks in order to win a fight? Esteban De Jesus never did that. And he was the true man that really beat Duran in his prime.

Ya know elmer? I think you finally did it.

I think you've talked about this fight being corrupt so much that they've actually rewritten the history books. I mean this is amazing. I just looked, and it now says Roberto Duran W DQ 8 over Sugar Ray Leonard :oo

I can't believe you've righted this cosmic wrong after all these years by telling us so much truth that it couldn't be denied.

So you did score it 9-6. Thanks for clearly that up, and while you're at it, please pass on my best regards to your mother. :TU: :TU:

I will answer for what elmer since he is ducking your question.
elmer did not score the Duran-Leonard fight 9-6 in rounds. He scored it 5 rounds for Duran, 2 for Leonard, and 8 rounds even. That is what he posted years ago. And he continues to call it an "ass-kicking".

He also once posted that Leonard is not a "real fighter". Yet he still pretends that he likes Leonard and is fair to him.

Interesting stuff. :TU: Three rounds difference in a fifteen rounder is a close fight in anyone's book.... except elmer's of course.

Look at Sugar Ray's face before and after the fight. His own mama didn't recognized him.

Roberto Duran always said that Ken Buchanan was his toughest opponent. And he whupped Buchanan worse than he beat Sugar Ray.

Almost every fighter says their toughest opponent was a guy they beat, and not a guy that beat them. That way they were toughest when they needed to be most in their minds, and they have an excuse for their loss.

A fighter needs this to be the truth to keep going.

Duran also said that he when he got back to Panama after the No Mas fight, members of the public spat on him. I wonder how long after he quit, he started regretting it?

The bathroom story is false, and so is the claim of cramps, because when you get cramps, you immediately try to stretch it out, Duran wasn't doing that. Most logical guess would be he just felt tired.

I agree with you. I think that Roberto Duran ran out of gas on the tank in a fast paced fight. He could have FAINTED that night. It's a miracle that he lasted 8 rounds with the shape he was in.

I don't think that Sugar Ray was dominating the fight like some people claim. He didn't do much, except in that 7th round when he faked the bolo and give him the left jab. People laughed. Seeing that things weren't going HIS WAY, Duran saw the bullshit between the lines and quit. He knew that he was going to lose waaaayyyy before the opening bell.

But, ironically, he was still in the fight. Sugar Ray was winning the fight, no doubt, but not by much. But, that win was unsatisfying in his mind. It took something from him mentally. Like if he didn't win legit or something. It really bothered him after all these years.

But, Duran quitting was something unimaginable. Nobody thought, including me, that he would ever quit a fight. That was the surprising thing. That Duran quit.

After this fight, Ray revealed in his first autobio what has already be discussed, ie Duran had been partying hardy and ballooned to over 200lbs. Team Ray offered Duran a record purse with a short training time figuring to make weight he would have to near kill himself and they were right

Dran made weight, and as he stepped off the scales, he was thrown a whole grapefruit by one his team that he scarfed down whole whereupon he was thrown another that he perished. He then went next door and polished off a whole steak dinner before retiring to his suite where he ordered another steak dinner. I had a huge appetite back then, but Duran would've dwarfed me.

Leonard ran and popped for the rematch instead of going toe to toe the first fight where he had no choice when Duran near KOed him early the first fight while going toe to toe.

All that chasing led to Duran's stomach dumping into his bowels when droning Cosell infamously made up "No Mas." What Duran actually said in Spanish to the Mexican Ref was "I'm not fighting that clown," dismissing him with a wave of his glove.

What NJ Commish Randy Gordan was witness to when Duran when he was rushed into his training room: the prompt Hue and Cry and Stink as Duran sank his misery down the commode.

Now Duran was embarrassed to say the least, but Leonard was so miffed at being dismissed like the school boy he was to Duran he delayed the trilogy until it was irrelevant, and even then he was still running...The End save someone will butcher history again... :TU:

What Randy Gordon claims to have witnessed was contradicted by Freddie Brown . See Brown's June, 1984 interview that was picked up by newspapers throughout America.

Duran was stuffing his face between fights when he was Lightweight. He didn't do anything out of the ordinary. PS I want Leonard's KO loss to Camacho expunged from his record because he was a coke head at the time.

The fact that he made weight doesnt mean he was in tip top shape.
His performance vs what he did in Montreal clearly shows this.
