I don't think the driver died if reported correctly.
Yh the front passenger and the backseat passenger next to AJ died I believe.

Just imagine how different it would have been if the reports stated that AJ died.

To speculate after seeing the pix on BBC website of the damaged vehicles

Nigeria drives on the right side and has LHD cars

Looks like the vehicle carrying AJ has hit the back of the parked vehicle with the passenger side taking most of impact. So possibly driver ok per post above, the front passenger doesn’t look good however :(

Also initial report says it was overtaking , but that doesn’t look like the case if it’s hit a stationary vehicle on the “hard shoulder”. Under-taking possibly ?

With boxers it's often just for the sheer bloodymindedness of it all.

Some inner driven thing.

If he does come back & fights Fury imagine the back & forth the two camps would have about Whose Come Back Was The Greatest?

Eddie Hearn: Anthony Joshua in ‘stable condition’

Anthony Joshua’s promoter says the fighter is in stable condition and being kept at the hospital for observation.

Following a car crash in Lagos, Nigeria, video circulated of the visibly pained and stunned two-time heavyweight titlist being assisted out of the backseat of a wrecked vehicle. On Instagram, Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn posted a statement confirming Joshua’s status and the deaths of Sina Ghami and Levin Ayodele, longtime friends of Joshua’s who had been in the front seats when their car struck a stationary truck on a notoriously busy and dangerous highway.

“With profound sadness it has been confirmed that two close friends and team members Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele have tragically passed away,” the Matchroom statement said.

“Matchroom Boxing and 258 BXG can confirm that Anthony sustained injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital for checks and treatment. He is in a stable condition and will remain there for observation.

“Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the families and friends of all those affected – and we ask that their privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time. No further comment will be made at this time.”

The crash comes just 10 days on the heels of Joshua’s sixth-round knockout victory over Jake Paul, a mammoth event broadcast on Netflix. Joshua and Tyson Fury were slated to fulfill a long-simmering rivalry in 2026 by finally meeting in the ring; it’s not yet clear how long Joshua’s injuries will keep him out of commission.

Hearn, who has promoted Joshua since the inception of his professional career, added a personal comment to the post: “With the heaviest of hearts. Two great men. Rest in eternal peace Sina and Latz. My thoughts and deepest prayers are with everyone.”

It will be interesting to see if he fights again. Physically he could be alright but mentally is what I'm interested in.

I don't think the Fury fight is anywhere near as appealing with us all having seen both lose twice to Usyk.

Yeah that’s going to be very hard to deal with emotionally, not only being in the accident but seeing his best friends killed in such a horrific manner isn’t something he will ever forget.

It seems now that the Fury v Joshua fight will never happen and go the way that many fights people wanted to see and they never took place

Upon learning of the tragic event, Fury paid his respects on Tuesday. In an Instagram story, the former WBC heavyweight world champion shared a post confirming the deaths of both Ghami and Ayodele. He captioned it: ''This is so sad. May god give them a good bed in heaven," while also writing: "There is no tomorrow. Live, love, and give."
