Second time on the POD. He is obviously doing his best to promote himself. Very hard working lad and clearly a student of the game, i always like it when a boxer seems really into the sport itself, not just his career.
best of luck to him!
best of luck to him!

Re: Harvey Dykes
until his last fight i didnt realize how small he is. hes got some quick hands and decent moves, but being a tiny hw with no power is gonna make it hard for you to advance, commercially and through the ranks.

Re: Harvey Dykes
He has flirted with bridgerweight, cruiserweight may be a stretch too far.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑20 Nov 2025, 04:29 until his last fight i didnt realize how small he is. hes got some quick hands and decent moves, but being a tiny hw with no power is gonna make it hard for you to advance, commercially and through the ranks.
Problem is there are no bridgerweight titles at area/domestic level …

I see Dykes is boxing John Palata soon. Palata has always gotten the big build up on Highfield Boxing podcast.

Hey Mickey. Yes, it is for the Southern Area. Forgot to post this:mickey1975 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2026, 04:38 I see Dykes is boxing John Palata soon. Palata has always gotten the big build up on Highfield Boxing podcast.
Harvey Dykes lands title shot on January 31

Whitehawk’s Harvey Dykes has been given the Christmas present he wanted the most – a shot at his first professional title.
The 30-year-old, who celebrated his birthday on Christmas Eve, will take on Jonathan Palata for the vacant Southern Area Title at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on January 31st.
“That belt is coming home,” said Dykes, who was crowned national super heavyweight champion as an amateur. “This is what I have been working for since turning professional. Now I have got the opportunity I am going to make sure that I take it.”
Preparations began in early December when it became evident that this opportunity may be just around the corner.
“I wasn’t too happy with my last performance,” he added. “There was a lot going on at the time, including on fight night, so I want everything to be perfect this time round.
“I began training several weeks ago. I have been working under my main trainer Don Charles in London, and with fellow pro Sher Khan when I am at home. It meant making a few sacrifices at Christmas, but we all know it will be worth it. Winning my first belt will open a lot of opportunities for me.
“I have already been getting in some decent sparring. I am working with top American Jermaine Franklin, who has only been beaten by Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte. Jermain is preparing for own fight with Moses Itouma, so the sessions have been intense.”
Dykes believes he will need to be on top form to claim the belt. Whilst being inactive for long periods of his career, Palata also has a strong amateur pedigree and a similar record.
“I believe this is the best opponent I will have faced as a professional. Palata does a lot of things well, is 6ft 4’’ and very strong. But I have been back working with Traact Nutrition, will be in the best shape of my career and am fully focussed. There are going to be loads of my fans there as well, so I am going to make this a night to remember.”

Surely Dykes is the favourite there.

Re: Harvey Dykes
I’d say so given Palata’s inactivity.
Warren Boxing Management may be judging this off the back of Harvey’s last performance - which wasn’t the best.
He was decent against Krasmaru though (despite the odd scoring) has been more active and is having a really good camp.

Really hope the winner actually ends up defending it. The area and English titles just seem to be won and vacated so often.

Re: Harvey Dykes
Looks like Palata has an 8 rounder against another opponent. Could well be seen as an eliminator for the English or Southern area as both are prospects.
Hopefully Dykes can get himself a decent fight to stay in the mix.
A real shame that the area titles and English title don’t get fought for at heavyweight.
