Herbie Hide in court
I saw a post that Hide assaulted a police officer who entered his home in Norfolk, I thought he lived in Nigeria now.

Herbie was just protecting his property and family. The officer was plain clothed and did not immediately state that he was a police officer. This will hopefully be NFAControversial wrote: ↑04 Jan 2026, 18:16 I saw a post that Hide assaulted a police officer who entered his home in Norfolk, I thought he lived in Nigeria now.

Looks like he rents out the swimming pool in his house to the public. That's some career change.

I'd expect to get mullered but seeing Hide having such a porcelain chin, I'd a swing at him if he was coming at me. No doubt I'd find myself absolutely starched but if the punch landed, Herb could be on the floor.

Reminds me of a Hennessy show they had in Norfolk one time on ItV. Gabriel Clark was the backstage reporter and there were so many face palm moments. He interviewed Hide early on the card and for some reason the conversation went to the toilets. Clark then interviewed that light heavyweight who was from Norwich who fought Nathan Cleverly a few years later and part way through the interview went ‘how are the toilets here?’ and he just got a completely blank look back. Then after Hide had won his fight he got interviewed in the changing room and after the interview had finished Clark was doing the outro while Hide started undressing in the background in full view of the camera. it was about 15 seconds away from seeing Hide’s Shlong on live tv.

Herbie has become an elusive character. Can't imagine him being mega rich.
He must have some sort on I come I guess as I cannot see him being very good at money management or a decent property investor.
I did like Herbie in his fighting days though. He was a decent boxer really, just didn't have the tools for the bigger guys

Re: Herbie Hide in court
I did a fair bit of work with Herbie after he signed with us. He actually ruined the first couple of days of a holiday I was having in Greece when he and Audley were shouting at each other at the York Hall and then loads of fights broke out.
I spent hours on the mobile and laptop in the hotel bar writing and refining press releases. My girlfriend at the time was not best pleased. Weirdly, I then ending up representing him at the Board hearing!
Herbie was without doubt the biggest character I worked with. Completely erratic, maybe a touch scary because of that unpredictability, but on the other hand very engaging, happy to give his time, and quite kind. Had a massive soft spot for him.
Had a nice relationship with well respected Norwich trainer Graham Everett and ex runner Neil Featherby, who used to represent him. They really saw the best in him.

Didn’t he take liberties with sparring partners even when much smaller than him? I can’t remember the details but I recall hearing a podcast and one sparring partner he went too hard on came back armed with a hammer lolFrostieballs wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026, 12:46 I did a fair bit of work with Herbie after he signed with us. Dya know what he’s up to these days? How did he end up in Norwich? I only ask as it seems so random, probably as I associate Partridge with it.Frostieballs wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026, 12:46 I did a fair bit of work with Herbie after he signed with us. Hey Sean. He’s grew up in Norwich - his family moved there when he was young. Not sure of all the reasons behind that.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026, 14:50Dya know what he’s up to these days? He’s always had a nice place there. From what I read above he still has, but couldn’t say what he’s doing now. I’ve sadly lost touch with a lot of people!

Not a story I’ve heard - but didn’t spend any time with him in gym. We were based in London.Controversial wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026, 14:21Didn’t he take liberties with sparring partners even when much smaller than him? Thanks for responding Frostie really appreciate it. I always followed Hide’s career, I still remember being in shock when he fought Chinganu on BBC and lost and was super happy when he battered him in the rematch. Those were quality days for BBC boxing.Frostieballs wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026, 15:29Hey Sean. He’s grew up in Norwich - his family moved there when he was young. Does Herbie come from money then?

I received his book as a Xmas gift; Hide had some nasty problems with parasites.
