I would actually love it if it were Chisora. I've always hated Chisora, and Wardley is my current favorite fighter. So watching a favorite of mine bash up a dude I can't stand would be lovely

And besides being a seemingly safe 1st title defense. Chisora style wise would also be good practice for Daniel Dubois. They have a lot of similarities with how they fight, and what they do well.

I'm not completely against it being Chisora. As long as Wardley wins. Chisora getting the belt and demanding a rematch with Usyk would be annoying, either that or an unnecessary fight for a vacant belt if he retires. There aren't too many better or more deserving options at the moment. If Wardley wins, hopefully he can look upwards or at the very least face a new face.

Maybe Chisora?

The WBA rankings are gonna change quite bit til then too.
Hmm could be set for another fight at Portman Road considering how well it filled the ground despite it raining on the night which made glad of my decision to havey seat in the lower tier of the Sir Bobby Robson stand and not on the pitch.. However is dependent on whether Town go up automatically or via the playoffs.

Why ? he didn't ask to be handed the title, he's decent and respectable, is exciting and will fight anyone and he's not responsible for the decision of the ref to stop the fight with Parker. I like him and hope he goes on a good run of wins and earns some good paydays.

A Chisora defence is fine by me as long as Derek is old arsehole Derek in the build up & not cuddly Derek.

I don't think the fight will go too long so I want the press conferences to have tables being thrown at other tables.

I think Fabio's great but I couldn't care less about watching Chisora fight again. What a dreary year 2026 is looking to be for the heavyweight division: Itauma vs Franklyn, Kabayel vs Knyba, Usyk vs Wilder, Wardley vs Chisora.

I wonder what else we can expect? Dubois vs Jamie TKV? Joseph Parker vs Dave Allen? Tyson Fury vs Luis Ortiz?

I'm sure Itauma will fight more than once, mate :D

I can't say the same for Kabayel though. Or Usyk.

But I'd expect Wardley to have a big fight (Itauma?) even if he does have a little voluntary against Del Boy first.

It's not all doom & gloom.

I just listened to Wardley interviewed last week and he was given a list of fighters to fight in the future, he said yes to them all which included Usyk, AJ, Dubois, Wilder and Parker rematch (he said maybe) but when asked if he’d fight Itauma he said no.

Dubois' manager says they want Wardley. Not sure Dubois deserves another crack at a belt but I love that as a fight.

Yeah but considered he's only been a Pro for like 3 years, that's not a good sign.

Really doesn't much matter about Wardley's belt. We all know Usyk is the Champion. It would be annoying for Dubois to win the belt, and talk about fighting Usyk a 3rd time.

Surely even Dubois wouldn't want that though.

Shame Usyk didn't fight him then instead of handing the belt to him. I'm sure Wardley doesn't see himself as the world champion, but was he supposed to say 'thanks for belt Usyk, but you can keep it and I'll continue fighting for less money '

I see a few interviews like this: Fury maybeeee wants Fabio after his warm-up move around against a bum.

If this is the case then Wardley vs Fury is a fine fight, and I could forgive a Chisora farce if it led to that.

I stand by it being a dogshit start to the year though. Hopefully, if they're all doing 2 fights a year, the better fights will come later on.

Fury looking really old in this thumbnail, isn't he?

Fabio Wardley Wants Tyson Fury Fight If Not Usyk; Also Considering Chisora

Another marketable domestic clash could become available to Tyson Fury if his showdown with Anthony Joshua falls through.

Fabio Wardley, the heavyweight division’s newly crowned WBO titleholder, is willing to give the former WBC champ a shot at his throne.

“I’d more than welcome it,” Wardley said on Sky Sports Boxing. “That would be a fight that I’m hugely up for. Give me a call anytime.”

A matchup with Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) may catch Fury’s attention now that Joshua is attempting to wrap his mind around what recently happened.

The former two-time heavyweight champion was involved in a horrific car wreck last week in Nigeria. The 36-year-old escaped with only minor injuries, but Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, close friends of Joshua and members of his team, died in the accident.

As previously reported by The Ring, a matchup between Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) and Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) was being planned for a Riyadh Season card at some point this year.

It’s unclear what Joshua will do next. In the meantime, Wardley has made it known he would love to face off with Fury. While a fight against the former champion would be terrific, Fury isn’t his No. 1 option.

“The one I want the most is Oleksandr Usyk,” Wardley said. “I know he’s playing around with a fight with Deontay Wilder, so maybe not right now. The next best option for me would be Tyson Fury. He’s a huge name, big character in the game. He’s someone I would love to hop in the ring with.”

Initially, Wardley appeared to be next in line to face Ukraine’s Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs). The 31-year-old Brit won the WBO interim title thanks to an 11th-round stoppage of Joseph Parker on October 25 in London.

Shortly after, Usyk, the division’s undisputed champion, opted to drop his crown rather than making a mandated defense against Wardley. He’s pursuing a matchup with Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs), a former WBC champ who is 2-4 in his past six fights.

Wardley, though, isn’t strapping himself to just those two names. The Ring’s No. 1 contender's next fight could come against Derek Chisora.

“We’re having some broad conversations, some broad chats,” Wardley said. “I know people would love that matchup. I know he’s on the hunt and wants a big finish to his career. Obviously, he’s at 49 fights, he wants to finish on that big 50. So, a world title shot is probably the best way to do that.”

After giving his mind, body and soul to the game for nearly two decades, Chisora has said on countless occasions that he’ll officially hang up his gloves after his 50th fight. Considering that Chisora is riding a three-fight win streak, Wardley sounds like he may be willing to give him a shot.

Ultimately, whether it’s Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) or another big name, Wardley is simply happy to be in this position. Ever since he became a champion, the tables have turned.

“I’ve always been the one chasing and hunting for the people with world titles,” Wardley said. “Now I’ve got one, so it makes things a little easier. I can kinda sit back. People are hunting after me.”

I just don't think he need a tune up for Wardley, who's basic and easily hittable.
