Alexis Arguello vs Salvador Sanchez

Post by Nile4000 »

15/135, circa 1982, who would've won?

I though the same with the Explosive Thin Man taking a decision in a close fight.

Agreed. At 126 or 130, Sanchez wins, imo.

Agree at 126. I am not as sure at 130. Arguello was at his best at 130

This would be a very tough fight for both men. Alexis Arguello's height and reach would be a problem for Salvador Sanchez.

I would lean with Sanchez, IF, he boxes and move around the ring. He can't get too cocky. Arguello is not Danny "Little Red" Lopez nor Wilfredo "Bazooka" Gomez in which that even that they lost to him, they were able to connect some great shots. I believe that Arguello hits harder than both of them.

Sanchez by decision IF he boxes. He got to be perfect in not mixing it up and try to outslug the puncher Arguello.

If Sanchez goes down, he's not getting up. .

I didn't think so. I know he would've eventually grown into a Lightweight surely, but i don't know that I'd put a guy in a mythical match at a weight he never fought at.

Might as well speculate how Sanchez would do at 140.

Damn Sanchez was great but he has taken on mythical proportions on these fights.
