Re: AJ injured in car crash
AJ was already showing signs that he needs to hang the gloves up. He's had some weird episodes, such as his rambling post-fight rant following the Usyk defeat.
That car crash cut his friend literally in half, so it must have been a hell of an impact. No telling what the effects on AJ are but you'd expect it to be another concussion at a minimum.
He should call it a day. He doesn't need a load more CTE now from heavyweight sparring followed by a heavyweight fight.

How would he feel walking into a gym and his two pals aren't there?

Joshua pays tribute to friends Ghami and Latz
Anthony Joshua has paid tribute to close friends Sina Ghami and Latif "Latz" Ayodele, who were killed in a car crash in Nigeria, saying he is "finding it tough" to process their deaths.
Ghami and Ayodele died when the vehicle they were in, alongside heavyweight boxer Joshua and another passenger, collided with a stationary truck on a major road near Lagos.
Joshua sustained minor injuries in the crash before flying home to United Kingdom and attending the funeral at a mosque in London on Sunday.
''Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers," Joshua posted on Instagram on Thursday, external.
"I didn't even realise how special they are. I'll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men.
"100% it's tough for me, but I know it's even tougher for their parents. I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers.''
Ghami was Joshua's full-time sport and exercise rehabilitation coach and worked with him for more than 10 years.
Hours before the crash, Joshua posted a video on Instagram of him playing table tennis with his long-time friend Ayodele, a personal trainer.
On Sunday, Joshua posted two pictures on Instagram, one showing him sitting alongside his mother and family members of the victims including the mothers of Ghami and Ayodele, and one with him holding a photograph of Ghami.
Driver Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was charged at Sagamu Magistrates' Court on Friday. Police sources told the BBC the charges included causing death by dangerous driving.
The defendant was granted bail of 5m naira (£2,578) and remanded pending his bail conditions being met. The case has been adjourned until 20 January.
Joshua, who was born in Watford, has family roots in Sagamu - a town in Ogun state, near the crash site.
The 2012 Olympic champion was on his way to visit relatives for new year celebrations in the town at the time of the collision, a family member told the BBC.
The boxer had been spending time in Nigeria after his recent victory over American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on 19 December.
On Thursday, UFC fighter Kamaru Usman apologised after footage of his private video call with Joshua in hospital circulated online, saying he "takes full responsibility" for posting the clip on YouTube without properly checking the full video.

I had a major car crash years ago and it took me a long time to get over it, physically and mentally. I hope Anthony can find peace.

Re: AJ injured in car crash
Hearn was asked about Joshua’s future while in Las Vegas; Hearn said there’s “not really any talk about boxing” as Joshua recovers physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Eddie Hearn says Anthony Joshua is focused on recovery after a deadly car crash that killed two of his friends; there’s no discussion right now about Joshua returning to fight.
Hearn says Joshua is recovering from injuries and training lightly as a form of therapy, but he’s been warned by medical staff after “hitting pads” against orders. Hearn stressed the decision to return must come from Joshua.
“Obviously, physically, he’s recovering. Emotionally and spiritually, he’s recovering – and there’s not really any talk about boxing, to be honest.”
“I think when the time is ready, if that time even comes again, it’ll come through Anthony Joshua — it won’t come through me…”

Re: AJ injured in car crash
I have a feeling that we've seen AJ's last professional fight.
Re: AJ injured in car crash
I kind of hope so. You want every boxer to get out before they take too much punishment, and while earning very well, he's taken his fair share. With the trauma and physical (possibly neurological) toll of the crash on top, it's hard to want to see him in a proper fight again.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026, 17:12 I have a feeling that we've seen AJ's last professional fight.

Hi G, it`s conan here. My PC died and I'm stuck in login hell here. I can't recover my password. I looked in my account that I assume was connected to my account and the mails go back to 2001 there. I sent you a PM recently about the weight graphs, telling you to look in the other weight thread for the graph I made. Is there anything you can do as a mod so that I can login again. The recovery options don't seem to work. Nothing in the inbox or spam folder. Hell I can't even find the Off Topic thread with this account yet. Total fornicate up.MasterG wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026, 14:06AJ won't be in any frame of mind in the next 2 or 3 years to get serious about training. Imo it would be foolish for him to face Fury next, or even anytime soon after.gilgamesh wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026, 12:55If he retires without ever having fought the fight. Fury is forever better.
That being said, If I just made 90 Mil to beat up a No Hoper, and then 2 of my buddies died not even a week later in a Fatal Car crash that I was involved in. I don't think I'd want to continue fighting either.
Hell fighting is probably the least of his problems right now honestly. That whole thing is surely a very traumatic thing to have gone through, and I wish him the best in dealing with all of that.
Fury will have his number now. AJ just needs to retire and take a long deserved holiday.
Thanks for any help given.
cheers

Yes, well about that. I can't send messages from a new account. Apparantly you have to post a few times before that service is activated.MasterG wrote: ↑29 Jan 2026, 05:43Can you send pm to John2331608 wrote: ↑28 Jan 2026, 18:50Hi G, it`s conan here. Ok, post a few then send John. I could do this for you but would require personal info and without posting publicly this would be difficult2331608 wrote: ↑29 Jan 2026, 17:00Yes, well about that. Joshua crash driver case adjourned to March
The driver of the car involved in a fatal crash in which British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was injured has appeared in court in Nigeria.
Joshua's personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami, died on 29 December after their vehicle collided with a stationary lorry near Lagos, Nigeria.
The former world heavyweight champion, 36, was treated in hospital for his injuries.
Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, who was driving Joshua when their car crashed, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and driving without a valid driver's licence.
The 46-year-old appeared at Sagamu Magistrates Court in Ogun state near Lagos on Wednesday, when the case was adjourned until 13 March.
Prosecutors told the court they needed further time to prepare evidence.
Joshua was discharged from hospital two days after the Lexus SUV crashed on the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway, in south-west Nigeria. Ghami and Ayodele were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Kayode, who was making his second appearance at court, is yet to enter a plea.
