New York Champs and their fake soft touch championship fights.
First Zayas fights an amateur that he has to hold on to all night to get his belt and now Carrington fights a guy who lost everytime he stepped up to B level. I know MSG likes thieir Local and Borriqua champs but this is rediculous match making.

Zayas definitely got his WBO title gifted, but at least he fought a good fighter for the secound belt. Even though he is too green to be a unified champ in my opinion.
I don't think this has anything to do with the US or one of your states, it's just way easier to get your hands on some title nowadays.
Sadly, the titles don't mean as much as 50+ years ago.

Lara won his mw belt beating a club fighter with the nickname of Cornflake. You can't get a title more handed to you than that. Some guys fight legit opponents for belts, some get cupcakes. Far too many tiitle fights today are for "vacant" belts, and those seem to be often rigged for one fighter. Seems like this became more common when the IBF and WBO were birthed in the 1980s
