Usyk vs Dubois 3

Post by halfamill »

Since Fury and Joshua have frequently been mentioned as possible trilogy fights for Usyk, can Dubois work himself back up for one as well? After his first loss he had a nice 3 fight win streak within one year to become the #2 heavyweight. If he does the same with the likes of Fury and Kabayel in 2026 for example does he deserve a third one?

There's not enough time. There's a queue building and Usyk has said he might retire after the next one. If he faces three more opponents, Dubois would have to really defeat three other top 5 contenders for himself to get another shot. It just seems very, very unlikely and Dubois probably isn't good enough to do that anyway.

There is no demand for a third fight. Usyk won easily, why would anyone want to see a third mismatch?

I'd like to see Usyk fight his WBO and WBC mandatories. Parker and Kabayel have styles that are trickier and less basic, the fights would likely be more competitive.

No way. There was barely demand for the rematch. But his 3 wins and his team helped build up his profile enough to make us believe he deserved a rematch. He even ducked Parker to make the rematch.

I wanna see Dubois mix it with the other british brawlers in the division. The Dave Allen's, Dereck Chisora's, Joe Joyce's, Dillian Whyte's of the world.

Maybe someone like Zhilei Zhang as well.

This is it - he looks great against the right style of fighter, not someone like Usyk.

Dubois will not fight Usyk again. But if he will get a couple of more wins in a row he will
get a chance at a vacant belt as soon as Usyk all's it a career.
He needs to keep busy against decent competition

That does seem like the problem. Frank seems to have Turki's ear more than most. However, Parker is one of Frank's guys and Turki said he wasn't interested in it. I guess we have to see whether Frank can/wants to change his mind. I suspect Frank wants Itauma in with Usyk and Turki either wants Itauma or Kabayel.

Don't think were gonna get Itauma with anyone who can push him for a while yet , If Franks gonna take a punt i suspect it may be against Huni , he can be hit and he can be put down. Kayabel , at this stage too tough , hits too hard for Itauma the balls rolling with Itauma , but frank will play footsie with it for a while just yet , its just the way he does things , Big names who he can beat no one builds a fighter up like Farnk Warren , he's a complete master at it

Agree.
I think Usyk should fight Parker next. Joe has been waiting a long time for his shot.

Dubois is facing the #1 heavyweight after Usyk in May. While Joshua and Fury are taking soft fights Dubois is here taking the hard route back just like he did before the 2nd Usyk fight.

In his case I don't know if it's so much "taking the hard road back" as much as it is "getting, while the getting is good"

He's the kinda fighter who could win or lose on any night to any of the harder hitters at Heavyweight. So while he's still near the top of the ladder, might as well make the biggest money while the opportunity is still there for him to do so.

The Wardley fight is also a fight that he could conceivably win. It surely will be close to a 50/50 fight according to the odds.

Dubois v Wardley is good enough and close enough for now.

Usyk is now without a financially credible opponent.

Both Wilder and Chisora could effectively help him out but they seem to be fighting each other.

And unfortunately Jake Paul has not recovered from that accidental 'love tap' when AJ went slightly off script.

Yes, it's poor risk v reward for the champ, but it looks as if it's Kabayel's turn to receive a 12 round boxing lesson from Oleksandr the Great.

If Turki wants to lose money paying Usyk to fight Ngannou or Verhoeven or whoever else, it makes a non-financially credible opponent financially credible for Usyk. That's the problem when you have one guy picking and choosing what everyone does. Hopefully Turki decides Kabayel is his new favourite for a while.

Verhoeven would be a big money fight, and i personally would love it. I think it'd be a first to have a Boxing Heavyweight Champion and Kickboxing Heavyweight Champion fight. It'd be an interesting event and Verhoeven I guarantee would hold his own.

Verhoeven gets KO'd in boxing, KO's Usyk in kickboxing. Turki wants nonsense rounds in an exhibition fight. I don't think it sells as well as needed for the money he'd be paying them. Most people have never heard of Verhoeven because kickboxing is even more of a niche sport than boxing.

I agree, but whether or not Turki loses money is not a concern to me, and I'd like to see Rico get a career high payday. He's been Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion for like 12 years.

Even though I'd bet he'd lose, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him give Usyk all the fight he can handle. Rico is a Professional fighter of the highest order and can hold his own with people his size. Guaranteed.

If Dubois beats Wardley, Fury, Kabayel and Itauma then Usyk can just retire knowing he beat dominated the guy that beat everyone else two times.

Dubois could knock out any heavyweight in a battle royal and I wouldn't want to see that fight again. Same with AJ and Fury.
If Dubois beats Wardley and Usyk beats Kabayel, he can retire in peace.
