A really good move I think.
He looked the business against Bateson and comfortably beat Ruiz who went on to draw with McGregor and beat Galal Yafai.
He needs to get more active and hopefully this does that.

Undefeated Super-Bantamweight slickster Shabaz Masoud has signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing.
One of the brightest talents in Britain, Shabaz has won all eleven on his professional contests since turning over at the Bolton Whites Hotel with a third round TKO win over Stefan Sashev back in May 2018.
The 27-year-old from Stoke is trained and managed by Ben Davison out of the Ben Davison Performance Centre in Harlow, Essex alongside two-time Featherweight World Champion Leigh Wood and rising Super-Welterweight star Pat McCormack.
'Maverick' (11-0, 4 KOs) picked up the WBA Intercontinental Title last time out in November by stopping fellow unbeaten rival Jack Bateson in the twelfth and final round of their clash at the Utilita Arena Sheffield.
Masoud, a former Sports Development student at Staffordshire University, hopes to follow in the footsteps of Prince Naseem Hamed and Amir Khan as a new wave of British-Asian fighters rise to the top of the sport.
"Alhamdulillah this is a huge step in the right direction for my career," said Masoud. "Inshallah I’m a future World Champion and Matchroom have put together the path to make that happen. I want to thank Ben, Eddie and Frank for this opportunity. I’ve worked my whole life to seize it with both hands and that’s what I will be doing!

Shabaz Masoud vacates European 122-pound title
The Ring's No. 9-rated contender will doubtlessly look to step into world class and advance his claims for a world title shot.
The EBU acted quickly and matched a pair of Italians, when they called for the official challengers Alessio Lorusso and Francesco De Rosa to fill the vacancy.
The two sides have until March 10 to come to a deal or the fight will go to purse bids.
Lorusso (31-5-2, 10 KOs) has been a professional since 2017. The southpaw lost four of his first 11 but went on to win the Italian national title and then the European title but surprisingly lost it in his first defense against Thomas Essomba.
The heavily tattooed 30-year has won 10 consecutive fights to earn a second opportunity to become European champion.
The man in his way is compatriot, De Rosa (12-0, 8 KOs), who made his debut in 2021 and though hasn't fought anyone of note but did go to England and stopped previously unbeaten Nyall Berry (TKO 8) in June 2024.
The 28-year-old is coming off a stoppage win over perennial contender Geram Eloyan (TKO 10) on December 5.

I just hope we see him out soon.
Inoue & Nakatani is in May & I'm expecting there to be a rematch of that bout (not definitely but I think it's 75% likely) so the alphabets will be pushing their 'secondary' titles & Shabaz could be up for one of them.
But this once a year schedule isn't helping him.
