Marvin Hagler vs RJJ @ 160
12 rounds. Who ya got?
Re: Marvin Hagler vs RJJ @ 160
Jonesy, provided he isn’t weakened by making weight. He was just too quick.
Re: Marvin Hagler vs RJJ @ 160
Jones, and only if it's a 12 round fight.
Re: Marvin Hagler vs RJJ @ 160
I think Roy is too fast for Marvin. It's possible Marvin wears him down, and saps his energy for a late rounds assault, but I think he's a step behind Roy all night, and loses a UD.

It's a toss up for me. But, I am more on Roy Jones Jr side. Too fast. Too slick. Too quick.
If Sugar Ray Leonard was fast, Jones was much more faster.

Re: Marvin Hagler vs RJJ @ 160
Jones is better in every single aspect except punch resistance and toughness. That aspect is however a big one. But Jones speed, power and size would be too much for Hagler and maybe even good enough for stopping Marvelous. Still, solid chance for Hagler to hit and hurt Jones and got a win after that.
Re: Marvin Hagler vs RJJ @ 160
Good points raised about the length of the bout and Jones possibly being weakened by the weight. Same day weigh-in leads to a Hagler win.

Great points. I also want to add that Jones was not yet at peak at 160. His peak weights were 168 and 175.
I think Hagler pulls this off with the closest of margins
Re: Marvin Hagler vs RJJ @ 160
I'd say Hagler had a better jab than Jones.

Yeah, but I'm right. At 160, Hagler took clean shots by Thomas Hearns and kept on coming. That sir, is emphatic proof that Marvin's chin was solid.Cent0089 wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026, 16:59I disagree.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026, 12:58and ring IQ, determination, grit, switch hitting, reach, experience, fighting at peak weight, chin, strength.
Are you gonna argue that Roy had more experience? That Roy was at his peak weight at 160? That Roy had a longer reach? If so, let's hear it.

I wrote that toughness and punch resistance was Hagler advantage. That includes chin too. Jones had advantage in every other thingskeithmoonhangover wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026, 17:12Yeah, but I'm right. I am going to disagree, because Hagler had a longer reach, that sir, is a fact.
