If you look at the British & Irish welterweights do people even think he’s top 5?

Crocker
Donovan
Catterall
Walker
McCormack

are all favourites against him for me.

Not sure how he fares against Essuman or Eubank either.

That's a question that has gone on, and not been answered throughout his career.
Is he even the best domestically?
If there has been a good chance of him winning a domestic title, you would think it makes sense to take it.
So I trust his matchmakers, they have only got it wrong twice and he won both rematches.
Prior to him popping hot, I would have given him a fair to good chance in a WW British title fight.
Now I think there are at least four guys above him. Unless he can bang his way through - but dropping down to WW and still expecting to have power seems like a further down the line thing.

If Barrios vacates, and they can drag some scrub up from the lower rankings for a bout, then for sure Benn can win the belt :TU:

Yup, they’ll give him a setup “world title” fight against a bin man from Chile because Benn having a belt will be worth more $$

He’s not top British imo. I really hope he doesn’t win a world title it’s an indictment of the sport

I'm interested in if he actually can pull a decent crowd. Is he unpopular enough to get a crowd to watch him get beat?
It's only my opinion, but it seemed Chris Eubank Jr was the draw in his biggest fights, and the public had enough of Benn.

In the second fight the crowd were booing Eubank and cheering Benn.

Maybe he’s popular amongst the casuals now.

I mean it s possible.
But lets not act like Garcia cant be figured out.Rolly Romero of all people simply took his left hook away by keeping his right hand home and Garcia had no plan B.
Coupled with his questionable preparations he s always a questiin sign.
It s not like Benn clipping Garcia would be a massive surprise either.
I dont know if Garcia gets by Barrios tbh.

OK Tin Hat On

I know he was fighting a skeleton in Eubank but I was very impressed with how much Benns boxing acumen has come on compared to when his early days.

Obviously you'd expect a boxer to improve during his career (except for Hughie Fury) but I did not think I would see Benn using footwork & angles like he did. And he's fast too.

I know he's roundly hated by many in the UK, and rightly so, but from a boxing perspective he impressed me in his last two bouts.

BUT, I don't think he can safely make Welter any time soon & he still hasn't beaten a top Welter. Or top anything really.

As for Garcia, you could also label him a bit of a fake. He actually is a real boxer with a long youth amateur career but once he & his family realised how much money they can make off his looks they went that route - and fair play. But he has only won ONE fight since the summer of 2022.

Anyway, I'd LOVE to see this fight at 150. I think the build up would be great & the fight itself would be all action. The best Garcia beats the best Benn but will the best Garcia turn up.

Also, Benn speaks Spanish while Garcia doesn't so that would be interesting if the fight was here in California.

Too me that was really telling.
And exactly right- no plan B.
My estimation of Garcia dropped drastically after that fight.

According to Edward Hearn, Benn vs Garcia is the biggest fight in boxing and Benn would take 15,000 to Vegas.

Mind you, he has called out every top guy in several weight divisions over the years and fought none of them.

Garcia will be ordered to fight Benn.

But now he is with Zuffa, so will he abandon that.

Interesting fight. It’d be akin to a gold medal bout in the Enhanced Games

Garcia KOs him quite early imo
