I suspect it's always happened, we're just more aware of it now with the constant presence of social media and the quick-turnover news cycle.
It sure is annoying and frustrating for fans, but it's got to be much worse for the fighters affected by it.

Could be completely legitimate and if it is I hope he's ok.
Off the top of my head, I'm having a hard time remembering when any of the top Black American boxers of the past pulled out with such regularity so close to a fight.
Just had Brandon Adams
Floyd Schofield has done it and a number of others.
