Less than a week after the news that Conor Benn had joined forces with Zuffa Boxing shook the boxing world, it was announced Thursday that the 29-year-old British star will face former 140-pound champ Regis Prograis on April 11.

The fight will act as the co-main event to Tyson Fury’s heavyweight bout with Canadian-based Russian Arslanbek Makhmudov. The Ring event will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Netflix will stream the action globally.

On Thursday afternoon, Benn (24-1, 14 KOs) took to social media to official announce his return.

“Guys, Connor Benn here,” he said. “I’ve just finished training this morning. It's been a flat out week, but I'm excited to announce I'll be fighting on April 11th, live on Netflix, as the co-main event to Fury versus Makhmudov against Regis Prograis. Make sure you tune in live on Netflix. Let's have it.”

The fight with Prograis will be contested at a catch weight of 150 pounds as Benn works his way back down to welterweight after spending 2025 embroiled in middleweight grudge matches with Chris Eubank Jr.

The pair’s first fight in April claimed The Ring’s “Fight of the Year” award. Benn lost that fight after 12 thrilling rounds, but he redressed the balance with a wide decision win in the November rematch.

Benn’s ultimate aim is a return to 147 pounds and a shot at newly crowned WBC champion, Ryan Garcia, or WBA belt-holder Rolly Romero.

Given the long relationship Benn’s trainer, Tony Sims, has enjoyed with the Hearn family and Matchroom Boxing, there had been speculation as to whether the two would continue working together following Benn’s split from the promotional giant. But a brief video Thursday appeared to show Benn getting straight back down to work at the Matchroom Gym.

Prograis (30-3, 24 KOs) hasn’t boxed since he outpointed Joseph Diaz over 10 rounds August 2 in Chicago. The New Orleans native jumped at the chance to step up to 147 pounds for the opportunity to fight Benn. The 37-year-old southpaw is well known to British fight fans after losing decisions to former undisputed 140 pound champion Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall.

I actually don't mind 150 for Prograis, at his age boiling down is hard, so to fight at 150 is a good thing IMO.
At least he shouldn't be Eubank level drained

Prograis: 150-pound Catchweight not Ideal But Excited For Benn fight

Regis Prograis has been in his fair share of big fights, but his upcoming matchup against Conor Benn feels special.
The 37-year-old from New Orleans will return to the ring as the co-main event to Tyson Fury vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The event will be broadcast globally on Netflix.

Prograis, who had two separate world title reigns in the junior welterweight division and has never even fought at 147 pounds, agreed to fight Benn at a catchweight of 150 pounds.

Benn, Zuffa Boxing’s latest acquisition, had back-to-back fights against Chris Eubank Jr. at 160 pounds at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In April of last year, Benn lost a close, but clear unanimous decision. In their immediate rematch, on November 15, Benn floored Eubank twice in the final round and won wide unanimous decision.

Weight might be a factor in the fight. Prograis tried to get Benn and Co. to meet him somewhere in the middle, but he didn’t want an opportunity like this to slip away.

“At first, we tried to get the weight down a little bit. They said no. Cool, no pushback,” Prograis told The Ring. “I didn’t push back about the weight, and I didn’t pushback about a weigh-in clause. I wanted the fight, and we made the fight happen.”

Prograis (30-3, 24 KOs) heads into his matchup with Benn feeling good about himself. He defeated Joseph Diaz by a unanimous decision on August 2. Before that, he lost two lopsided decisions back-to-back against Devin Haney in 2023 and Jack Catterall the following year.


Having shared the ring with some of the sport’s bigger names, Prograis isn't in awe of Benn.

“He’s a cool fighter,” Prograis said while smiling. “Cool opponent.”

Prograis hasn't fared well in the U.K., losing to Catterall and Josh Taylor in 2019 in last two trips there. However, he believes this time will be different.

“Third time's a charm,” Prograis said with a laugh. “I know I’m a little older now, but I've been getting better.”

Meanwhile, Benn, the Ring’s No. 4-rated middleweight and No. 1 WBC welterweight contender, has a chance to make a splash in his first bout since signing with the Zuffa.

Benn (24-1, 14 KOs) was initially hoping to fight for the WBC welterweight title next, a belt owned by Ryan Garcia thanks to his points win over Mario Barrios last weekend at T-Mobile Arena.
