Easier said than done when a guy is pressuring you, and pounding your body on the ropes. Kinda takes that movement out of them legs a little.

I watched the Sugar Ray Leonard-Ayub Kalule fight and scored it. I love Kalule, but he was just overwhelmed by Leonard's speed and skill.

I just scored the Ken Norton-Jimmy Young WBC contender fight from November of '77. It was another brilliant fight. I had Norton leading the fight into the midway point, but as the fight went on, Young began to gradually take control of the fight and went on an incredible run through the late middle and into the late portion of the fight. I really felt as though he took control of the fight via his movement and combinations. Norton had alot of trouble getting at him for a large stretch of the second half of the fight and it was enough to draw Young level and ultimately into the lead in the fight on my card. As can be seen, I awarded Young a very narrow decision on my card. The judges awarded Norton the fight by split decision. Judge Art Laurie scored the fight 144-142 for Young, but the other two judges (Jimmy Robdeau and Raymond Baldeyrou) both gave it to Norton by scores of 147-143.

Great fight!

I just rewatched the first fight between Chocolatito Gonzalez and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai for the first time in years. It was the second time I have seen the fight and scored it. My god, what an incredible fight! Here is how my card came out:

Roman Gonzalez vs. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai I (3-18-2017)

R1: 10-8 Sor Rungvisai (knockdown)
R2: 10-9 Sor Rungvisai
R3: 10-9 Gonzalez
R4: 10-9 Gonzalez
R5: 10-9 Gonzalez
R6: 10-8 Gonzalez (pt. deduction for headbutt)
R7: 10-9 Sor Rungvisai
R8: 10-9 Sor Rungvisai
R9: 10-9 Sor Rungvisai
R10: 10-9 Gonzalez
R11: 10-9 Sor Rungvisai
R12: 10-9 Sor Rungvisai

114-112 Sor Rungvisai

And I just rewatched the second fight, as well. It is a tragedy for Chocolatito, as he just didn't show up that night. Sor Rungvisai sure did though.

Roman Gonzalez vs. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai II (9-09-2017)

R1: 10-9 Sor Rungvisai
R2: 10-9 Sor Rungvisai
R3: 10-9 Sor Rungvisai
R4: Sor Rungvisai wins by Knockout

9 to 6 is the same way I had it the last time I watched it. I always have the Thrilla in Manilla 7 rounds to 7 after 14 rounds, with Ali having swept Rounds 12, 13 and 14.

Hey Gilgamesh,

I have only scored the Thrilla in Manila once. I no longer have that card, but I had Ali up at the time of the retirement by enough that the fight was all but out of reach for Joe provided that Ali came out for the final round and that. Joe’s heart and determination was just indescribable, but on my card, it was all but out of reach by the time of the retirement.

I will have to score it again when I can.

Canelo vs Gennady Golovkin 1

Upon revisiting this bout I saw it differently than I saw it live as it happened. Perhaps I was too caught up in my own emotions at the time, and was able to be more objective now.

Whatever the case, this was my how score went on this viewing.

1. Canelo *
2. Canelo
3. Canelo
4. GGG
5. GGG *
6. GGG
7. GGG
8. GGG
9. Canelo
10. Canelo *
11. GGG
12 Canelo

114-114 Even

I think the draw verdict was fair. The 118-110 score read in Canelo's favor was indeed outrageous though.
