Gervonta Davis & Isaac Cruz are in talks for a rematch this summer at 140lbs, @MikeCoppinger has revealed on @InsideRingShow.
The two previously fought in 2021, with Davis winning a unanimous decision over Cruz.

So Davis is choosing to rematch the guy that he beat, not the guy that he drew with, who also just drew with the guy that Davis beat.

GERVONTA DAVIS-ISAAC CRUZ REMATCH IN THE WORKS FOR THIS SUMMER
Gervonta Davis wants to grant a rematch to another rival a year after his majority draw with Lamont Roach.
Advanced negotiations are ongoing for Davis to fight Isaac Cruz again sometime this summer.
Baltimore’s Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) defeated Mexico City’s Cruz (28-3-2, 18 KOs) by unanimous decision in December 2021 in Los Angeles.
A Davis-Cruz rematch would be contested at the junior welterweight limit of 140 pounds. Their first meeting was a lightweight title fight for Davis’ WBA belt.
Davis’ fight with Cruz was considered the most competitive contest of his career until Roach nearly upset him in March 2025 in Brooklyn. Cruz and Roach (25-1-3, 10 KOs) later settled for a majority draw December 6, when they fought for the former's WBC interim super lightweight title in San Antonio.
Davis, 31, hasn’t fought since he faced Roach, who chastised Davis for not granting him an immediate rematch.
Davis was removed from his exhibition against Jake Paul, which was scheduled for November 14 in Miami, because an ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic violence. Davis was arrested January 28 in Miami related to charges in that case.

Despite all of that, Davis does now look set to return, after it was reported by Mike Coppinger that he is in advanced talks for a clash against Isaac Cruz, a man that ‘Tank’ named as his number one target late last year.

Gervonta Davis is in advanced talks to meet Pitbull Cruz in a summer rematch. It’s an intriguing fight to me, especially with it being at 140 where there are some big fights for Tank. The first fight was close and dramatic and Pitbull looked good in a December draw with Roach.

The original encounter was a hard-fought win for Davis but nowhere near as controversial as Tank’s last tilt against Lamont Roach, which resulted in a majority draw 12 months ago.
Devin Haney believes Davis should do more with his career than chase a sequel with Cruz.
“Everyone wanted to see him do the Lamont Roach rematch,” Haney said on “Inside The Ring.”
“I'm not saying it's not a good fight, but a guy like Pitbull Cruz is a fight no one asked for. They have two styles that clash, and I do think it will be a good fight, but that no one asked for.
“When I was at 140, they were saying I was too big for Gervonta, who was saying we'd have to fight at 135. And now he's fighting Pitbull Cruz at 140 pounds, who's not really even a real 140-pounder.’
Haney is the WBO welterweight champion after beating Brian Norman Jr. in November, and was also a junior welterweight titleholder and undisputed lightweight champion. Haney competed at lightweight until May 2023.
