Daniel Jacobs was a talented guy, but he had sh*tty Boxing IQ. He had a tendency in both of his biggest fights to turn Southpaw for no real reason, and when he did it, it usually caused the other guy to take over the bout from him.

For the most part switching stances is a mistake. Very rarely you have a guy come along like Terence Crawford who can do it effectively, but for the most part, switching stances is a bad idea, and in the case of Jacobs against Golovkin and Canelo it was obviously a very bad idea as it cost him in both of those fights.

He did a lot of switch hitting in the fight. Roy Jones repeatedly called it into question. What I really thought killed him though is that he would box so effectively for stretches of the fight and then seemingly abandon his plan until being upbraided in the corner again. It was a fight which was right there for him to take, he just couldn’t quite do it.

It is a text book example of a gift decision. In fact it's the very first fight mentioned on this thread. Mayweather slept walked his way through the fight. Not sure if if I have heard any Mayweather fan claim that he won that fight. Should have been a very clear cut decision for Castillo.

Like DrDuke, I had it very close, as well. I scored it even on the basis of Mayweather taking the first four rounds and two of the remaining eight rounds. With the point deductions, that made it 113-113 Even.

A comment on Pac vs Marquez IV. I think it's bitterly ironic that Pacquiao gets knocked out in the fight that he was doing best against Marquez in. Even though it doesn't go his way, I do think Pacquiao is the guy that had made the decision coming into that fight "Ain't no more close decisions. We're settling this f*cking thing!" and he fought like it, and forced it to be one of the best bouts of their series. Arguably THE best bout of their series.

Regarding Pacquiao-Marquez, I don’t think that there is too much doubt about it. Pacquiao fought the fourth fight incredibly aggressively.

So many razor thin rounds. I'll need to rewatch this after I've watched more of both fighters. I think there was alot of subtlety that I missed here purely because I'm not familiar with either fighter. It's definitely a brilliant fight, both men were superb.

It was the second to last fight of Ward’s career. He spent most of his career at Super Middleweight, ultimately becoming a unified and undefeated champion in the division before making the huge decision to move up to Light Heavyweight to take on Kovalev who had, frankly, murdered the Light Heavyweight division to that point and was also undefeated. After the first fight, they met again in the rematch in June of 2017, where Ward, amazingly, stopped Kovalev and he subsequently retired at 32-0. He went in as a first ballot Hall of Famer in 2021. Kovalev has continued to fight and has had a great career.
