One of the most disappointing moments I had a huge boxing fan back in the '60s was the Ellis-Patterson fight back on September 14, 1968. I was a kid and watched the entire fight live on TV, with Howard Cosell on the call. I felt sure Floyd had won the fight. Cosell and the Swedish crowd were astounded when the decision was given to Jimmy. I stomped out of my parent's house pissed as hell. The only scorecard in the fight belonged to the referee.
Floyd got robbed big-time, at least to my way of thinking.

Would have been interesting if Patterson would have got the decision. Always thought it was wrong to just have the referee be the sole person scoring the fight. Not even sure he should be one of 3. In many fights, he has enough to do just being the referee and probably wouldn't be the best person to score it.

Wilfredo Gómez was my favorite fighter but his decision over Rocky Lockridge was terrible. Rocky didn’t help himself by letting Gomez steal the championship rounds. Zárate v Pintor was another one. No way Pintor won and Zárate was so disgusted he retired. Fenech v Nelson I was a ridiculous draw.
Fenech won clearly, possibly his best performance.

Anyone remember Reynaldo Snipes vs Gerrie Coetzee?
Long time ago but I believe it was on national TV here.

I remember watching that fight. Coetzee decked him a couple of times and almost had him out of there. Part of the problem with the scoring was that it was based on the rounds system. Snipes got a title shot against Holmes next.
