Featherweights: Eusebio Pedroza vs Azumah Nelson

Post by elmersalsa »

Technical Master boxer vs a technical swarmer.

Pedroza was considered by many as a dirty fighter. But to me, he was a gifted technician that could adapt to any opponent's style.

Nelson was a swarmer and a good puncher. Also had great boxing skills, but not like Pedroza's. Who wins in your opinion? I pick Pedroza in a very entertaining fight by a close split decision. :TU: :TU: :TU:

A fanatsic match up. I edge towards Pedroza but only just. I'd have loved to have seen a round robin tournament between Pedroza, Sanchez, Nelson and Arguello, maybe throw in a prime Gomez, Fenech, Lopez and McGuigan too...

I think I'd edge towards Nelson... little bit stronger... Technically Nelson was very underrated... he could box or brawl and was very clever in there, as was Pedrosa... this would be a hell of a fight and probably decided by a narrow decision... :box: :box: :box:

Pedroza NEVER HAD THE CHANCE TO PROVE HIS SKILLS against the likes of Sanchez, Gomez, Lopez or Nelson. I wish that he could have fought one of those guys back in the rich talented 80s.

I'm going with Nelson, but only because I am extremely biased & a big fan of Zoom Zoom Nelson.

It would be a close one though.

pedroza would have to stay on his toes the whole night in order to win-- i think Azumah catches up to him and wins a close one.

I think Eusebio could edge Azumah, based on his years of experience.

Prime for prime? Pedroza. In 84 (if Nelson were fighting Pedroza instead of Gomez for the title)? Nelson.
