Was rooting for Thomas, but don't think I gave him more than one round. Never heard of anyone having Thomas ahead. Some people had it a shutout for Tyson. Having said that, most of the rounds were competitive. Some fights are like that. A lot of competitive rounds, but the same guy is winning most or all of them.

Jimmy Young showed up significantly out of shape for his fight with Ocasio and he got off to a very slow start. By coming on over the second half of the fight and taking almost the entire second half of the fight on my card, Young narrowly stole on a win on my card, but the judges, by split decision, gave the fight to Ocasio.

Jimmy Young vs. Ossie Ocasio (6-08-1978)

R1: 10-9 Young
R2: 10-9 Ocasio
R3: 10-9 Ocasio
R4: 10-9 Ocasio
R5: 10-9 Ocasio
R6: 10-9 Young
R7: 10-9 Young
R8: 10-9 Young
R9: 10-10 Even
R10: 10-9 Young

96-95 Young

What a fight for the Heavyweight Championship of the World. Holmes just got out to too great a lead for Norton to claw it all the way back, but from round eight onwards the fight was an absolute war. My card ended up coming out a bit wider than the judges cards did.

Ken Norton vs. Larry Holmes (6-08-1978)

R1: 10-9 Norton
R2: 10-9 Holmes
R3: 10-9 Holmes
R4: 10-9 Holmes
R5: 10-9 Holmes
R6: 10-9 Holmes
R7: 10-9 Holmes
R8: 10-9 Norton
R9: 10-10 Even
R10: 10-9 Holmes
R11: 10-9 Norton
R12: 10-9 Holmes
R13: 10-9 Holmes
R14: 10-9 Norton
R15: 10-9 Norton

145-141 Holmes

In an amazing development, the site Eye on the Ring is again back up and operational. I had contacted the owner and informed him that the site was down. Maybe that had an impact. Let me post several of my scorecards here for fights which I have not scored here on Boxrec from there. I was user "TryingtoPlay" on Eye on the Ring. Here is one.

Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad (9-18-1999)

R1: 10-9 Trinidad
R2: 10-9 Trinidad
R3: 10-9 De La Hoya
R4: 10-9 De La Hoya
R5: 10-9 Trinidad
R6: 10-9 De La Hoya
R7: 10-9 De La Hoya
R8: 10-9 De La Hoya
R9: 10-9 De La Hoya
R10: 10-9 Trinidad
R11: 10-9 Trinidad
R12: 10-9 Trinidad

114-114 Even

I am going to add the first two Pacquiao-Marquez fights to my previous post in which I scored the third and fourth fights from their iconic series.
*They have been added to that previous post.

Exactly what I scored it the second time. Live I had Tito winning 115-114. Harold Lederman said it was an easy fight to score 6-6. Still we had guys here claiming it was an outrageous robbery, and while Oscar admitted he lost the last 4 rds, he claimed he won the first 8.

Yeah, it certainly wasn’t a robbery. It was an extremely close fight and De La Hoya himself is in no small part responsible for what happened in the way he fought the last several rounds of the fight.

Eye on the Ring appears to have blown up again already. I am sure that it will be back up again soon, but they are probably struggling with user flow and have insufficient storage space for newly posted scores, or something.

I'm pretty sure I had the same score of 114-114 in Tito vs De La Hoya. I remember thinking Tito did reasonably well in the early rounds as well.

The narrative that De La Hoya had completely controlled the fight until the last 3 rounds is false.

Agreed.

Trinidad took several early rounds before De La Hoya really began to take control of the fight into the middle rounds.

Fury did virtually nothing round after round. He seemed to be saving his energy for raising his hands almost every time after the bell ended the round as if he actually did something great.

Wish I had my scorecard handy. There were several rounds that were very close simply because neither guy did anything. Taking out the two rounds where he got decked, that leaves just 10 rounds. Giving Fury 8 of the 10 to Fury is being very charitable to him. fury was very fortunate to get a draw here. You could make a case that this was worst heavyweight title fight of all time.

I have scored this fight twice. One of them is the card above. The other time I scored it 113-113 Even. The above was the first of the two and goes up there as a result (and I have the card from Eye on the Ring).

I agree, very exciting young fighter. If I were Oleksander Usyk I'd be trying to make this fight as soon as possible. Moses looks like he has a good head on his shoulders and will improve rapidly if he is matched competitively.

Humberto Gonzalez v Michael Carbajal 1

R 1 10-9 HG
R2 10-8 HG
R3 9-10 MC
R4 10-10
R5 10-8 HG
R6 10-9 HG

59-54 HG

Another fight that I missed out on all those years ago. I'd forgotten how much I used to enjoy watching these two in the early days of Sky TV in the UK, on Eurosport and Screensport.

I don't usually score fights with the commentary on but as soon as I heard Al Bernsteins voice I knew that I wouldn't be turning the volume down. This was one of the most enjoyably nostalgic fights I've watched.

I only vaguely remember the result so I was kind of shocked at the finish. I really don't want to say more than that, I feel like I'd be spoiling a brilliant fight for any potential scorers who intend to watch this😂

I had it 115-113 for De La Hoya. Often when a fight is that close, I can see where other had it differently. But not this one. There were not many close rounds. I had De La Hoya up winning 7 of the first 9 rounds, without much question. He was simply outboxing Trinidad. Then he stopped doing anything offensively the last three rounds and you had to give those rounds to Trinidad.
A lot of the blame should go to Gil Clancy, who was De La hoya's chief second. Clancy told him that he had the fight won and not to take any chances in the last three rounds. Clancy had been in the sport for a long time and should have known better than to tell him that.

Jake Lamotta vs. Sugar Ray Robinson VI (2-14-1951)

R1: 10-9 Lamotta
R2: 10-9 Robinson
R3: 10-9 Robinson
R4: 10-9 Robinson
R5: 10-9 Lamotta
R6: 10-9 Robinson
R7: 10-9 Robinson
R8: 10-9 Lamotta
R9: 10-9 Robinson
R10: 10-9 Robinson
R11: 10-9 Robinson
R12: 10-9 Robinson
R13: Robinson wins by TKO

The famous sixth meeting between Lamotta and Robinson, in this fight fighting for the Middleweight Championship of the World. Robinson had obviously moved up from Welterweight to Middleweight in order to challenge for the Middleweight title and this was their famous final meeting for the Middleweight Championship of the World which Lamotta had won in ‘49 against Marcel Cerdan and had subsequently successfully defended prior to this fight against Robinson.

It was a competitive and tough fight through the first eight rounds, but Robinson ultimately took over the fight and began to really dominate the action. Had I been the referee I would have stopped the fight in the 12th round and I am very confident that today the fight would have been stopped at some point in that round and rightly so. A brilliant performance from Robinson.

That fifth round was a roller coaster. Gonzalez was looking like he'd sealed the deal, with a heavy early knockdown. By the midway point I was starting to wonder if he would win the round at all. Probably the closest 10-8 round I've ever seen.
