Boxrec
Sad to see one of my favorite sites fall off a bit. Not recognizing WBA, some Russian IBA fights and now hearing much of Thai fights. Such an important site for our sport worldwide. The Board used to be full of great boxing minds, crazy characters and a few real fighters. Posting is way down. Will hope they can get going back in the right direction or find some fresh blood to do what must be a tremendous amount of work. I will be rooting for them.
Re: Boxrec
I must admit I am a tad confused as to why they block which fights were WBA fights, but generally speaking i don't see anything wrong with the site. It's about the same as it ever was.
Re: Boxrec
Boxrec is top website. Absolutely love it, especially forum.

If you tell John about the WBA thing.
He’ll say subscribe for £1 and you can see WBA.
It’s behind paywall.

Re: Boxrec
Right. Or I'll just Google it for free
It just would be simpler if I didn't have to rely on Google for that because I'm sure they don't always differentiate between WBA Super and WBA Regular. Which to me is the difference between Title bout or Non Title bout, because the WBA regular belt means you're champ of jack and sh*t.
It's the same thing as the WBC Silver belt where they basically make you pay a sanctioning fee to fight for their #1 contender belt at which time you're theoretically supposed to be in line for the real belt.
It's all just nonsense.

Re: Boxrec
Even with its shortcomings - real or perceived - I still think BoxRec is the best site of its kind for info about boxing and a growing number of other combat sports. That being said, it's not the only place where I get my boxing fix for results, upcoming bouts, and news.
But I have to admit, the forum is top notch. Excluding myself, it is populated by members with a ton of knowledge, thoughtful insight, actual experience in the ring, good-natured humor, and respectful discourse. I can't say that about all the boxing-related forums out there.

Re: Boxrec
The site's always had these idiosyncrasies if you were to look close enough. I recall about 20 years ago, the forum would auto-change the word "American" to a derogatory term if used in posts. I'd tell you which, but I'm only 90% sure which one it was. It wasn't a good one because I took offense to it and I'm not easily offended.Boxingguru75 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2026, 00:19 Sad to see one of my favorite sites fall off a bit. The WBA thing seems like nonsense.. as does the lack of ranking for boxers competing in "Bridgerweight". I'm sure there are several more outstanding... I just don't spend enough of my time these days on the site to tell you what they are.

WBA requested their information be taken down from here
