I think so, before their first fight Haye was in America and was staying on a yacht and there was little footage of him training. In hindsight I think it was because he was crocked and didn't want the press to notice. I'm sure things like injuries spread in boxing circles from sparring partners, trainers etc talking. Bellew was ultra confident in winning too which makes me think he knew Haye wasn't fit.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑03 Apr 2026, 13:38Was Bellew aware how badly compromised Haye was?Controversial wrote: ↑03 Apr 2026, 12:53I'm sure it goes on a lot, the sport is shady at the best of times. Yep! You hear a lot of fighters say it's rare to not have some sort of injury going into a fight. I seem to recall Pac saying he had a shoulder issue weeks before fighting FMM and considered pulling out but didn't.smiling assassin wrote: ↑03 Apr 2026, 13:28Darren barker against Felix SturmControversial wrote: ↑03 Apr 2026, 12:53I'm sure it goes on a lot, the sport is shady at the best of times. Re: Conor Benn vs. Regis Prograis | Netflix - 11 April 2026
Regis Prograis is ‘Badly Injured’ Ahead of Conor Benn Bout
That’s according to Matchroom chairman, Eddie Hearn, who gave a revealing statement to iFL TV this week in which he said welterweight fighter, Rougarou, is far from fighting fit prior to swapping shots with British slugger, Benn.
Hearn represented Benn for much of his career, helped make him a star, secured the two-fight series with Chris Eubank Jr. for him, and, perhaps most significantly, risked devaluing his own reputation when he stood by him during a positive drug-test scandal.
Benn, famously, left Matchroom earlier this year as he became one of upstart fight firm Zuffa Boxing’s most significant acquisitions, and he debuts for that promotion just before Tyson Fury walks to the ring for his return against Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Speaking. to YouTube channel, iFL, Hearn touched on the relevance of the apparent one-fight deal, what it means going forward for Benn and Zuffa, and also mentioned the health status of Prograis.
“Do you think there have been no other conversations or agreements beyond a one-fight deal to fight Regis Prograis, over 10 rounds, for $15 million?” he said.
“Regis Prograis, who shouldn’t even be in the ring, because he’s that badly injured.”
Hearn continued: “Conor’s getting $15 million for a 10-round fight, with no future at all? Wake the f*** up.
“Everybody knows” Hearn said. “Everybody knows about Regis Prograis, and I ain’t gonna — I’m not gonna discredit Regis Prograis or the fight. Everyone knows the situation. Whatever.”
Though Prograis enters the Benn fight with a win — a 10-round decision over Joseph Diaz in 2025 — he has lost two of his last three, both by 12-round decision, to Jack Catterall in 2024, and, prior to that, Devin Haney in 2023.
Benn took his licks, too, mostly to Chris Eubank Jr. in their first fight, which took place at the 160-pound limit — 20 pounds north of where Prograis struggled to compete at, at super lightweight.
The weight gap alone provides Benn with an advantage, without even considering whether Prograis is injured, also.

‘Wake the f— up’: Eddie Hearn on Conor Benn’s Zuffa deal, Prograis being injured
Eddie Hearn shared more thoughts on his former fighter, Conor Benn, and Benn’s reported one-fight deal with Zuffa Boxing, which has set off quite a beef between the two parties, who worked together for many years as promoter and fighter.
Hearn carefully told iFL TV that he doesn’t believe Benn’s deal is actually just for one fight, saying he can’t imagine Zuffa are paying Benn $15 million for an April 11 undercard bout with Regis Prograis and nothing more, and also said that “everybody knows” Prograis is injured — to the degree that, Hearn says, Prograis should not be in the ring.
On Conor Benn’s “one-fight” Zuffa deal:
“Use your brain. … Do you think there have been no other conversations or agreements beyond a one-fight deal to fight Regis Prograis, over 10 rounds, for $15 million? Regis Prograis, who shouldn’t even be in the ring, because he’s that badly injured. Conor’s getting $15 mil for a 10-round fight, with no future at all? … Wake the fornicate up.”
On Regis Prograis’ status:
“Everybody knows. Everybody knows about Regis Prograis, and I ain’t gonna — I’m not gonna discredit Regis Prograis or the fight. Everyone knows the situation. Whatever.”
There have been rumors that Prograis, 37, was close to withdrawing from the fight due to injury, which Prograis has denied being the case.
Benn vs Prograis will be part of the Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov show from London on April 11, streaming live on Netflix.

It doesn’t work like that. This will have to be the one fight as Matchroom had matching rights in his deal.
Crazy fight for TKO/Turki to pay Benn $15m for.
Matchroom had to match terms of the deal presen a which is 1 fight and, supposedly, $15m.
The deal can’t then change otherwise Matchroom will be able to sue. They cant offer addendums either.
I agree with your third point. I think Turki has gone all in with Zuffa/TKO and we know $15m isn’t much for them.

That’s not to say there has been some sort of hand shake deal though. Who knows.
If there is anything in writing that is different to what Eddie had to match then Eddie will be sue.

BETTING ODDS CONFUSE PROGRAIS: ‘HOW AM I AN UNDERDOG?'
Regis Prograis is legitimately confused.
Is Conor Benn younger? Yes. Is he stronger and faster, too? Possibly. But should that make him the favorite? Considering the belts Prograis has won and the names he’s knocked off along the way, he doesn’t believe so.
“To the people, I’m an underdog, but I feel like I’m not,” Prograis told The Ring recently. “How am I an underdog if you check the resume? How many world champions did I fight? How many world champions did I beat?”
In total, Prograis (30-3, 24 KOs) has fought five former or current world champions, going 3-2 in those bouts. Benn (24-1, 14 KOs) has fought just one, a long-faded Chris Algieri in 2021. Prograis has also gotten over the championship hump twice, a box Benn has yet to check off.
However, what’s in the Brit’s favor heading into their April 11 clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium live on Netflix, is momentum. In back-to-back fights, Benn moved up to the middleweight division to face Chris Eubank Jr.
In their first meeting last April, Benn lost a close unanimous decision. In their immediate November rematch, Benn dominated, dropping Eubank twice in the 12th en route to a decision.
Prograis, on the other hand, has been showing his age. The 37-year-old is just 1-2 in his last three fights. And, when last seen, he picked up a win but struggled against a much smaller Joseph Diaz who’s won just two out of his last 10 fights.
Prograis, who’s fighting Benn at a 150-pound catchweight, would admit that he hasn’t looked like his normal self in quite some time. Still, he's fully convinced that he’s an elite fighter.
“I been a world champion twice, I been number one in the world twice already,” he said. “I don’t think Conor Benn will ever be number one in the world. I’m world level.”

It’s over 6 years since the Taylor fight which I think was the peak of both his & Taylor’s career. He’s being on a downwards trajectory ever since & is giving up height & weight.
Only question is whether he sees the final bell or not but I’ll be hoping for an upset.

Funny thing is even if Prograis is coming in with an injury. I still don't look for Benn to be able to stop him. He's just not much of a puncher, and he'll be weight drained more than Prograis who won't be weight drained at all.

‘I’m good to fight, for sure’: Regis Prograis denies being injured going into Conor Benn fight
On why he thinks Team Benn chose to face him
“Maybe they chose me because I am 37 now, so maybe they think I’m old and I’m not going to be in shape and stuff, and they probably want to try to catch me. That’s probably what they’re thinking. Maybe I would think the same thing, but I just feel like it’s not going to go the way they expecting things to go.
“But for me, the thing is I know I can beat him. That’s the main thing…now we’re here. It’s fight week.”
On the rumors of him being injured going into this fight
“Nothing going on with me, bro. For me, I don’t even know where that came from but I didn’t really address it or nothing like that. Nothing going on with me at all so maybe somebody out there is trying to stop the fight or whatever and they saying things like that, but nothing going on with me. I’m good. I’m good to fight, for sure.
“One person we know I saw on interview, Eddie [Hearn] said that. Eddie said ‘oh, he’s injured, he’s this.’ Like, why would Eddie go and say that? Like why? What’s the purpose? Why is he trying to do it? Maybe because Eddie did promote both of us and so he’s not in this, so maybe that’s why.”
On where he sees the weaknesses in Benn
“I just feel like I’m a better fighter…I feel like Conor Benn is not better than Regis Prograis. If you look at our resumes, if you look at everything — he’s not better.
“Me coming up, it will make a big difference. Even right now in fight week it’s making a big difference in me, my movement, my attitude, I do feel better, feel stronger. I can train way longer right now. Weight or no weight, no matter what’s going on, I do feel like I’m better.”

Regis Prograis warns Conor Benn 'gamble' will backfire: 'They definitely did set it on his terms but I know I can win'
Former super-lightweight world champion Regis Prograis' fight with Conor Benn will be at a 150lb catchweight with no rehydration limit; Prograis said "they definitely did set it on his terms" but reveals there is no rematch clause and warns that Benn's "gamble" will backfire on Saturday
Regis Prograis has warned that Conor Benn’s “gamble” will backfire when they fight this weekend.
Benn returns to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Saturday, the site of his middleweight victories over Chris Eubank Jr, for his third consecutive fight at the football ground.
Prograis is a former super-lightweight world titlist moving up to 150lbs to box Benn at a catchweight with no rehydration limit.
"They definitely did set it on his terms but for me I know I can win," Prograis told Sky Sports. "I fought at 140lbs my whole career, that's a big jump.
"Then I said, what about a weight stipulation for the next day? They said no, not going to happen," he continued. "I said I don't care, get the fight, don't worry about the weight, let's make this fight happen.
"I know I'm better, I know what I can do. I'm not worried about weight stipulations. Let's make the fight happen."
"We don't have a rematch clause," the American said. "But you never know, if the people want to see it, if it's something like that and the people want to see it why not? Why not do it?
"My plan was to go to 147lbs anyway, I didn't plan to go to 150," he added. "They did call me on six weeks' notice but because I was training I was in the gym so it's cool.
"They're definitely taking a gamble because I've been in the gym."
He doesn't consider Benn to be in his class. "I don't think so. I can't see it. I know I'm better," Prograis said.
"I think he's an okay fighter. I don't think he's really great, I don't think he's really bad.
"If you look at accomplishments, mine stick out way more," he continued. "I've been No 1 in the world twice, I've been champion twice; he never did that, he never accomplished that.
"It's not going to be the same thing with Chris Eubank. It'll be way different.
"It's definitely a different level. It's definitely different styles… I know I'm way better."
Prograis wants to use a victory over Benn as a springboard to another world title shot.
"It'll be so many opportunities on the table for me," he said. "I just know after that fight it'll be something real, real big.
"I want to be a three-time champion."

Gosh the poll is razor close!
I thought it would be Prograis all day long.
Sure he is well on the slide, but it is Benn ..

Or British points decision

Maybe that should have been the poll question. Will Benn win by British stoppage or British points decision?
