Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven | DAZN - May 23, 2026

This doesnt look good for us
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven | DAZN - May 23, 2026
Usyk vs Rico is a spectacular and unique event and will very likely produce a much better fight than anyone except me expects.
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven | DAZN - May 23, 2026
Rico Verhoeven is a Super heavyweight champion, not a heavyweight.
Rico is an undefeated boxer on top of it, as far as I know, there are no boxers a this skill level and at this weight who are active and undefeated longer then Rico is outside of Usyk.
Jake Paul once had a sparrings session with Mohamed Mezouari, better known as Hamicha, a super middleweight but realised kickboxers are next level compared to boxers. So he quit allmost instantly and never challenged a kickboxer ever again, he had his lesson. Because of that he prefered boxing instead since he can survive much more rounds against the hands only brawlers.

Who is on the undercard, Peter Dinklage v Hasbulla ?
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven | DAZN - May 23, 2026
Jake Paul has nothing to do with Usyk. Jake Paul's a shitty-ass boxer. That's why he's thinking about who he can survive against in the first place.881073 wrote: ↑07 Apr 2026, 14:48Rico Verhoeven is a Super heavyweight champion, not a heavyweight.

Anything involving Usyk is huge.
This is his thing.
This is his thing.

Yeah, undefeated since 1 fight in 2014. Nice way to make a big deal out of nothing. Go home if all you can contribute is garbage "stats" like that.
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven | DAZN - May 23, 2026
He's about a month and a half away from contributing the stat that he gave Usyk one of his toughest fights, and we'll see who's mocking him then.SportsRatings wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026, 00:07Yeah, undefeated since 1 fight in 2014. I just want people to remember that I knew it all the time that Rico was going to be something to be dealt with. He may not win a lot of rounds in the fight, but he'll do damage, and he'll do better than most expect. If you guys are expecting a 3 or 4 round blowout, that ain't what you're gonna get.
Only way it winds up being a 3rd or 4th round KO is if Rico is going for the gusto the entire fight, and Usyk has no choice but to answer back.

so ultimately what you're saying is it could very well be a quick blowout, like everyone is saying.gilgamesh wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026, 00:28He's about a month and a half away from contributing the stat that he gave Usyk one of his toughest fights, and we'll see who's mocking him then.SportsRatings wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026, 00:07Yeah, undefeated since 1 fight in 2014. Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Rico Verhoeven | DAZN - May 23, 2026
I expect the match to go pretty much the opposite of what most people seem to expect.
I know that Rico his reaction speed is not insanely high, he regularly get's hit in the early rounds, somehow his shape is insanely good and he can take a beat and just carry on right after.
He just continues to fight and fight and fight hard till his opponents can't keep up any more in the later stages and then he usually walks them over. Still not real KO power, just overpower his opponents slowly.
So where most people expect him to hit Usyk a bit in the early rounds and then Usyk figures him out and will hit him in the later rounds, I expect pretty much the opposite. I expect Rico to get hit in the early rounds and then make a comeback in the later rounds. I just hope the ref doesn't wave it off too early.
A little bit like George Foreman vs Muhammad Ali. Now I know that Usyk got a good stamina, but the stamina RIco has is simply not compareble to anyone in heavyweight boxing these days.
Actually, I think that for example Tony Bellew was for a big part a better boxer then Usyk, somehow he couldn't keep it up for 12 rounds. I expect Usyk to be a better boxer then Rico, somehow I don't expect him to be able to keep up with Rico for 12 rounds.
So yes, I genuinely expect the match to go pretty much the opposite of what most people are expecting.

I'm guessing that's a troll account. Everything he's said is absolute nonsense.

All judges had Tony Bellew up till the KO and all judges had Tony Bellew winning the first 3 rounds.joshj909 wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026, 10:04I'm guessing that's a troll account. Everything he's said is absolute nonsense.
Maybe you guys are just new to the sport and have no clue what you're talking about.

You're a deluded kickboxing fan who clearly knows nothing of the sport. I don't need to say anything more about your post. I don't think anyone else here will agree with a thing.881073 wrote: ↑12 Apr 2026, 10:19All judges had Tony Bellew up till the KO and all judges had Tony Bellew winning the first 3 rounds.

He probably won the opening 2-3 round yes. That’s it. Cus Usyk tends to lose the opening rounds. He worked Bellew out and took over immediately.

Bellew was doing rather well for the first half of the fight but as he began to inevitably tire and slow he was disappointed to find out that Usyk wasn't.
So was I, as a Bellew fan back then.
There could only be one result.
Unlike the grappling match between two giants last night who were both happy to take a breather for half of the rounds, Usyk tends to fight at an even but fast pace for all 12.
Absolutely amazing, and probably unprecedented for any HW since the days of Marciano/young Ali.
It will be interesting for us to see how much longer Usyk can continue to do this.
For Usyk it will be more than interesting, it will become increasingly dangerous.
If he ever was to fight Itauma, it would be better sooner than later.
