Good fighters or prospects that retired young.
Let's say under the age of 30, not guys who died but retired and stayed retired. Who you got?
Barry McGuigan was 28
There was a fighter whose name escapes me but I remember him being undefeated (maybe 20 or so fights) and highly touted and he just quit, I don't think he even fought for a belt/title. Driving me nuts trying to remember him, he was a black American fighter and I seem to recall it being either that he found god or he didn't want to hurt people anymore. Anyone remember? Pretty sure it was in the 1980s or 1990s.

I believe you are thinking of Kronk fighter Jemal Hinton.

Yes that’s him, thank you. Retired at 22, I was pretty accurate with the other details. Just saw he died a few years ago after a car accident., he was only 51.

Artie Levine was only only 24 but squeezed in 73 fights in 8 years and was top 10 ranked for a while

Naseem Hamed wasn't yet 30 when he called it a career right?

I like that Alp went back to the real past to pick one.
Here’s another, Packey McFarland. Undefeated in 113 fights.

Sean O’Grady fits the bill. Retired at 24
Re: Good fighters or prospects that retired young.
Nipper Pat Daley retired aged 17 with 119 pro fights. I’m pretty sure his son (maybe grandson) used to post on here.

I find it hard to believe that he was legitimately beating adult men at the age of 9 or 10.
Re: Good fighters or prospects that retired young.
The discussion ends with Daley. Beyond belief.

He was surely being matched against other kids roughly his age.Controversial wrote: ↑21 Apr 2026, 17:14I find it hard to believe that he was legitimately beating adult men at the age of 9 or 10.

He was doing 15 rounders a year or so after turning pro, the reason he retired so young was he was burnt out from fighting so much and fighting grown mengilgamesh wrote: ↑21 Apr 2026, 19:25He was surely being matched against other kids roughly his age.Controversial wrote: ↑21 Apr 2026, 17:14I find it hard to believe that he was legitimately beating adult men at the age of 9 or 10.
