Andre Berto is still being offered fights — including approaches from Saudi Arabia — but a return to the ring is only happening on his terms.
The former two-time world welterweight champion, who hasn’t fought since 2023 and was famously Floyd Mayweather’s final opponent, revealed he continues to receive regular offers despite stepping away from active competition.
However, the 42-year-old Berto made it clear the bar for any comeback is set high.
“I get it from Saudi Arabia and a few other sources as well,” Berto exclusively told World Boxing News. “Unless it’s the right situation. I myself, I am always staying active but I really don’t see myself getting back in there unless it’s for the right situation, the bag is super, super right.
“But I am just going to keep doing my thing and showing these guys how to make a successful transition out of the game.”
Comeback offers still coming
Even without a fight since his unanimous decision loss to Robert Guerrero in December 2023, Berto remains firmly on the radar for potential return bouts.
Interest from Saudi Arabia highlights how demand continues for established names, particularly as the market has expanded beyond traditional title paths.
For Berto, though, the offers alone are not enough.
He is staying active outside the ring and is not actively pursuing a return, leaving any comeback dependent entirely on the right opportunity landing.
Only on his terms
The Floridian has transitioned into life after boxing but hasn’t closed the door completely.
Instead, he has drawn a clear line around what it would take to return, balancing opportunity against long-term stability after years in the sport.
Building beyond boxing
Berto’s focus has shifted toward new ventures, including his show “Square Up,” which blends boxing, MMA, and entertainment. He’s also an ambassador and analyst for Dirty Boxing.
Rather than limiting conversations to fighters, he has expanded the format to include figures from across the wider fight and entertainment space.
“My new podcast square up. I don’t really call it a podcast, I call it a show. It’s just me diving in, not just speaking to fighters because I wanted to open up,” said Berto.
“I am not just a fighter. I come from an MMA family and I have always been exposed to the entertainment space as well so I am bringing all of those elements together.
“You can see me interviewing Keith Thurman and the entertainment aspect Damon Dash and today we did a thing with Mike Perry. So I want to bring the whole combat space together and when it comes to these celebrities that I have known for so long and I know that they love the fight game.
“Every time you see a fight you see all these celebrities on the front row and us as fighters we don’t know how much they really understand about the game.
“I think it will be a surprise to a lot of fans to see how much these celebrities really know about the fight game and to create a safe space for everybody that loves the fighting game.”
