Fighters mainly known for a knockdown

Post by JC »

Chuck Wepner is the obvious one.

British LHW Callum Johnson is always know for knocking down Beterbiev.

Darnell Boone for knocking down Ward perhaps, although he’s maybe best known as a better than advertised journeyman.

Any others?

That whole thing with Dick Ecklund flooring Sugar Ray Leonard. Not sure if it was counted or not but man, he got some mileage out of it.

Shavers flattened a lot of guys, but you're right in that Snipes would be known for little else than dropping Holmes. He was in the same realm as "Quick" Tillis to me.

actually he had been knocked down and "out" earlier in the amateurs
(there was a thread on this some years ago)
I remember the boxer had been from Montana.
(and Ali had wanted to fight him again years later as a pro)

Frankie Depaula floored Bob Foster in the first round of their title fight.
Of course Foster got up and annihilated him after that but hey, he dropped the great champ.

In fairness to Cunningham, he was the man at cruiserweight for a short time.

Ngannou is mainly known for a different Sport altogether, but the Fury fight probably is the most he ever got paid for a fight.
